I currently use it. It is very good. I was using PIDirect and after upgrading to an NX I began having problems. Back up man doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of the other progs but it doeas what I need it to do. It has worked flawlessy since I began using it.

I use it also. I think it works great. One of the best I have used.
It has the best interface of Adv. BackUp, CardBackUp and SmartBackup and seems to be the only one of the 4 that can backup specified files. Any other input on backup would be apreciated:)

I had a failure during backup with BackupMan. I might try it again and try to pinpoint the failure.

Backupman doesn't back up the Netfront web browser (now it's stated in their info page). Also you cannot get the driver for the Wi-Fi card restored properly.
The only backup program that I know works flawless is MSbackup (unfortunately, it doesn't have any advanced features).

Has anyone litterally seen the results of a full restore using BackupMan. I would be curiouse as to the results of how well it restores from a hard reset. Also please note how many files it restored.

As I said it worked fine except for two instances: Netfront browser and CF Wi-Fi driver.
Since I rely on both on the road, this is not acceptable for me.

Cool:) I guess it is fine with me until I use wireless stuff.
Thanks for the input. I'm going to give it a try.

Backupman has saved me so many times from hard resets. After a restore everything is the way it was before. Never had a single problem with it.

Does anyone have an opinion on BackUpBuddy? Just downloaded it and was going to try it out.

I've been using Backupbuddy for a few months and it has saved me a couple of times. Can't compare to BackupMan, but I'd recommend "buddy".

Only reason I'm researching back up programs is that BuacUpBuddy does not work on OS5 devices fully. If you have anything below OS5 then definitely go for BackUpBuddy without question.
I also came across Botzam Backup.

BackupBuddy has problems working with MSMount and PIDirect, maybe PowerRun also. If I remember correctly it also only supports one backup set. On the plus side, it supports encryped backups. I use Cardbackup, because it works flawlessly with MSMount and supports up to 8 separate backups, scheduled backups, selective file restore. I am a registered user of BackupBuddy Windows, just don't like BBVFS on the handheld. I am using a NR.

Tixx, am I understanding correctly that BackupMan does have the ability to back up specified files only? I am using an NX70V by the way. I am not as interested in backing up my complete RAM as I am in backing up my Pocket Quicken and PIM files. PowerRun in a round-about way is storing most of my other important databases on the card, so most of those apps/dbs would survive a hard reset anyway and don't need to be backed up.
Thanks!

I am not sure if it backs up certains files but it can restore certain files. if you only need to back up a few files, why don't you just copy them to the MS with something like filez or mcfile?

I have posted my woes on this board before, but since no one bothered to answer, I guess I am alone in that MS Backup never worked for me - it would always freeze in the middle of a backup. Maybe it has someting to do with a hack, but I don't really know.
I will have to try something else that you guys recommend.

BackupMan does not appear to have this feature. PiBackup II seems to be the most comprehensive backup/restore program. You can do scheduled backups, excluded files to be backed up, and selectively restore. You can also force restore files, because the app is only copying the files to the MS. It has never failed me, but I was interested in testing the waters with other backup apps.

That happens with a lot of backup programs if you use MSMount or PIDirect. I've never used MS Backup, so I can't tell you that is the cause, but if you use those apps, that is the first place I would look.

Can you clarify what you mean by "just don't like BBVFS on the handheld."
Thanks

Your right as it does not have that feature. When I wrote that I saw "BackUp Exclusions" in the tools menu and thought you could specify your backups. Sorry. I'll give PiBackup a try if it is OS5 compatible;)
PiB II does not support OS 5. I see now that Botzam Backup has been upgraded with OS 5.

Thanks for the info everyone! It looks like I might be trying Botzam Backup. I have only used JBBackup in the past on my T615 thanks to many ClieSource reviews, and I was able and got used to designating which files I wanted backed up in that program. Now that I have an NX, I'm looking for the same functionality. I took a look at Botzam over at PalmGear and it looks like it is able to do selective backups as well.
