Other shops will have it cheaper too. At SonyStyle.com its's $399. Add some VAT and BT and there isn't much difference.

Ok... why hasn't somebody just posted 'http://sonystyle.co.uk' or 'http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com'? I personally couldn't get to that other site that was posted (from work at least).

Also.. shouldn't we not just be able to order the TH55 from them right on that webpage (given it's got BT in it)? Or is it not that simple?

See this :

10. Delivery
Products will be delivered to delivery addresses within any country of the European Economic Area or Switzerland (but excluding any countries that are not listed as being available for selection through the country selector on the Sony website or in the list of countries available through the Sony telephone call centre, where suitable logistics and/or support arrangements may currently not be in place) only, except as otherwise exceptionally agreed with Sony. Sony will use its discretion in selecting a reputable carrier and appropriate means of delivery. Sony may deliver Products by installments in any sequence. Where Products are delivered by installments, each installment is deemed to be the subject of a separate Contract. No default or failure by Sony in respect of one or more installments will affect the Contract in respect of Products previously delivered, or undelivered Products. If Sony notifies you that it is unable to deliver any installment of Products, you will be deemed to accept those installments already delivered (subject to applicable law).

I see it all too well! More ''LEGALESE'. Haa. ;)

There is nothing in that that says I can't physically go over to Europe & buy one. Or have a friend buy it and ship it to me. All it talks about is the fact Sony won't ship it out of the E.U.

Europe more popular with bluetooth?? How many of us in SIngapore has mobile phone with bluetooth?? Extremely common!! Why no bluetooth in the TH55 sold here.
Sony Singapore has started the pre-sale of TJ-37 but no news yet for TH55.
If you buy from Europe, the price is higher, i compared other models of Clie in the europe website with Singapore.
U could claim back the VAT, but still expensive.
I hope the TH55 with Bluetooth will be introduce here!!

Just some remarks on the Euro 399 price tag:

1
SonyStyle is usually charging much higher than street prices,
i.e. in Germany (all including VAT):
NX73 sonystyle: 499 / street: 430
UX50 sonystyle: 749 / street: 640

2
Once available in March I think steetprices will soon drop to around 350-375 Euro.

3
Keeping that in mind I think this is a pretty competitive pricing compared with i.e. the T3 which sells in Germany for 445 Euro (palmone direct) to 350 Euro (street). I mean the TH55 comes with WiFi and camera (which the T3 does not offer).

4
I was on the way moving over from my NX70 to a T3. Well, my NX70 will be on eBay soon maybe selling for ~200 Euros. Thanks to the TH I will stick with Clié a little longer.

5
Introduction of the TH55 in Europe should bring down prices of the UX (which is just ridiculous) and the NX73 (which might be phased out soon).

6
I hate that price thing. I remember getting me a NR70 for around 480 bucks (used on ebay) and my girlfriend a T675C (new for 375 Euros back then on Amazon) AARGGG! Well I replaced the NR by an NX70 together WiFi card an BT stick. Thank heavens a already sold these connectivity cards already for around 100 euros each.
Now the TH has finally everything a need already included.

Just to chime in on the VAT thing, if you personally purchase an item in the UK and then take it outside the EU you can claim the VAT back but this is not (AFAIK) allowed on internet orders as the authorities can't be sure it's not a front for a European store to get stuff shipped to the States and then back again to avoid the tax.

The part of the specs you copied don't say that. The recording part is about still images.
