View Full Version : Got my NZ 90 yesterday

Went to CC yesterday and brought home the NZ. (The guys in that dept. had never heard of it - had to look it up in their computer, then go hunt it down in the storeroom. They were OOOHING and AAAHING when they saw it, just like I was). It is SO nice! :)

I HATE the way it sits in the charger - it's so easy to bump it just enough to take it off the charge. And I really hate the stylus.

Other than that, it's awesome. All my backup files from my NX60 loaded without any problems - even Doc to Go, which I'm glad, because I probably will end up removing Picsel Viewer. It takes up way too much memory or what it actually does.

I have small hands, but it feels so much better in my hands than the NX60 did - more "balanced" or something. I am very happy with its size - seems sturdier than the 60, and is definitely sharper to look at. The pictures are very nice (I have a 5.0 megapixel camera, so it's not quite up to that standard, but I'll still use it a lot, especially when I forget to bring my camera, which is a lot).  Wish you could view the pics on the TV without having to first put them in an "album," but that's the way it is. The camera really kills the battery, but it recharges quickly, so it's not a big problem for me.

The Audio sounds so much better than it did in my 60 - and I like that the speaker isn't right where my forefinger always was when I was holding the thing. The screens definitely brighter. Don't care much for the power button - either its placement (so close to the memory stick slot - I'm constantly pushing on the MS thinking it's the power button - guess I'll have to LOOK at what I'm doing til I get used to it), or the way you have to push down on it to turn on the power. Definitely like that they moved the voice record button - I was always hitting it by accident on my 60.

Overall, it's a CLASSY piece of equipment! It even woke me up this morning with the most beautiful melody (Spring Park), which I had in my 60, but it didn't sound nearly as good. I love it, and will be content with it for a long time.

May i ask one question? How many pictures (with/without flash) can you take before the battery is exhausted?

How much memory is available?

Is it the same case as the NX where you only have 11MB of available RAM?

Yup, only 11mb. But memory stick prices are falling rapidly.

I took about 6 pics and had only 38% battery left. But it recharges quickly, so wasn't much of a problem. I'll probably end up buying another back-up battery since I want to use the camera - it was one of the selling features for me. I have a 5 megapixel Sony Digital camera, and I love it, but it's so big to lug around that I rarely have it with me. I wanted the Clie because I'll always have that with me, so won't miss any good opportunities to take pictures.

Yes, there was actually less than 11 megs of memory, and picsel viewer takes up over 1mb. I'm down to 2 mb left already, even with a 128 mb MG.

waynema,

No, sorry. I won't even allow my kids to copy CD's unless it's a backup copy of one they've already purchased! And believe me, I don't think Picsel Viewer is worth it! As I said in another post, all you can do is view the file. You can't edit it. And the viewing of it isn't so great - the font is too tiny to read it comfortably (and my vision is 20:20), and if you magnify it even a little bit (and the magnification is not precise - it's touch and go), then you have to move the document all around, back and forth, to read it. That makes me dizzy! So, I'm back to using Documents to Go. It's just not worth it to be able to view some pretty graphics, unless that is all you are intending to use it for - to see the page layout as is before approving it or printing it...

Agree about the cradle, really the only weak part of the package. Its so dinky I'm afraid I'll break it and yes it falls over (due to the cables pulling off to the left) all the time.

Battery life via the camera is not stunning but i haven't really had a chance to test it out yet.
