I bought the CompUSA insurance after purchasing my NX from Circuit City and did not have to present a receipt. They had to see the device, make sure it was working properly, issued a "return" on it, then "sold" me the device. It was complicated, but I got it. Maybe they just don't want the hassle! Maybe policy has changed.

The sales people make minimum wage and have minimum knowledge, ask to see the manager if they give you a hard time about it and mention that you know of several other people that have done it.

The best insurance so far is Best Buy. $65 for 4 years. I already replaced my NR with an NX within the first year for free. Now my NX has a 3 yrs...in a few months it will be an NZ.

I don't want to pee in your Cherrios, but don't be surprised if you have some trouble the next time you go to return.  Bust Buy has really cracked down on returns on these warrantys, and more and more they are opting to send them in for repair versus giving you an immiate exchange.  It has happened to me with a laptop, and a few other folks who have post recently have reported having real hastles with Bust Buy management to get their exchange done.  Times, they are a changin' buddy.

I have my Clie for about a month...it was their idea to swap out, i had legitimate problems with my clie. I have 2 digital cameras also with their service plans and I have gotten 2 newer cameras, again for legitimate problems. At worst, if they fix it 3 times you get a new one, and at best they refund your money...well after 3 years a full refund is fine by me.

I was able to utilize my CompUSA PDA warranty yesterday to pay up to the NZ90. Actually, my nx70 did really have a defective battery, confirmed by Sony tech suport but the staff at the store didn't really look into it. I paid the $100 for the new warranty, I think that's what they really care about.

When I bought my old 615 clie, i went back the next week and bought the warranty. Well worth it, if you lost your receipt they should still be able to find the purchase on their systems.

Well worth it, seriously. Even if you only use it for legitmate reasons.
