I am going to travel to Asia, where I will have no access to any kind of AC outlet...

Anyways, to extend the life of my beloved Clie, I am planning to purchase a PEGABC10. I have some questions on this if someone has used it or knows about it.

- Can the BC10 use any standard AA batteries?
-How many charges do you get off one set of batteries?
-How many batteries does it take to charge the Clie?
-Can the Clie be used while charging?
-Is it worth the value (its 40 bucks here in Canada)?
-How long does it take to charge the battery fully?
-I'm not taking the NX80 with me, but the SJ22 (longer battery life, less features). Does it work with an SJ22?

I thought of contacting Sony Customer Relations to ask these questions, but that is way slower and 'unkinder' (lol) than ClieSource.

Solar? is this a custom setup? do you have pictures?

Instead of buying the sony one you can buy knock offs on ebay for a third of the price.

yupp, you can use any AAs. I don't like it, IMO. Since it runs on 4 AAs, when it can't charge you Clie anymore, you would typically throw the batteries - but there are still some energy left in there, so it is a waste.

It might be suitable for travelling, short time charging, but for typical use, it is a big NO.

btw, check ebay.ca (http://search-desc.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?query=clie+battery+extender&soloctog=1&maxrecordsreturned=300&sosortproperty=1&ht=1&from=R10&sorecordsperpage=50&sotextsearched=2&BasicSearch=) for it. There are some good cheap battery extenders for ~US$6. plus a small shipping.

as a side note, i lived in singapore and shanghai for 5 years. where are you traveling that you will no access to ac outlets? i think the sony charger is 110-240, so if you have a cheap plug adapter, you can get power.

car trickle charger with reverse adapter to turn it into a plug for DC and the standard DC charger for sony. Won't power it while on, but does recharge it when not in use. But only during daylight hours. ;)

I generally use it to power my AA charger when I am out and about, but occasionally use it for sony or cell phone when desperate. :)

u don't need PEGA BC10. u can charge it straight from your charger.

look at the voltage .. from 110 v to 240 v (worldwide)

Thanks guys, for the quick replies. ClieSource is the place to come! Thanks again.

Firstly, I am going to a remote village in India, where there is no running water, electricity, or other 'for granted' needs.

Secondly, I am not planning to take my AC charger along, since it will be too much to carry (I have lots of other things too).

Lastly, I need the battery charger for charging on the plane, since I won't have my real charger.

my brother bought a generic laptop charger DC 12v output (a pad 16"x10"x1/2". This is handy as you can put an inverter on it, and use the AC, or get the DC power adapter like I have. Charge the battery unit via solar during the day like I do with mine (when I am away from civilization I have a 12v unit that is rechargeable, but it is essentially a car battery with a fancy case and handle, not for flying) and then you can recharge your electronics at night while asleep. :)

Thanks Unregistered and everyone else!!:D

I will have to take a second of everything, since I will be far from civilization.

I really like the idea of a solar charging panel. Anyone got this product from Proporta before? Let us know! http://www.proporta.com/detail.asp?id=324
