is the software updated from that of the NX? or for that matter any of the Sony built-in ones?

OK, Don't know if this really helps or not, but I tried a mem stick that was loaded with 96Kbps MP3's that works fine on an old N710 but had serious problems on a new PEG-NX70V, on my brand new NZ90. To my surprise and my house mates chigrin the songs played perfectly on my new NZ90.

I do not know if this means they updated the software at all, but it does mean that I now know I can use at least 96Kbps MP3 files with my new Clie.

It is the same as the NX series, but both of those were both of those are different than the one that came with my NS-MS11.

Were the 96Kbps mp3s VBR encoded?  The N710/760 was able to handle VBr but the nx is not able to do so.  If the Nz can handle vbr then maybe nx users will be able to load the mp3 software from the nz on the nx.

Is is said in the latest nx bugfix that several problems with 96k encoded mp3 files have been fixed. They probably applied this patch to NZ already

The update said that it would fix some problems with 96Kbps but said nothing about VBR.  Have you installed the bugfix and found that it lets you play VBR?  I don't want to lose another 300K for bugfixes that don't apply to me.
