Looking at and shopping for one of these NX70 units and WOW,
but they are really expensive
My geeky teenagers think it's stupid (for me) to buy something this sophisticated and this expensive, but they think it is easier to program my cell phone for me than explain it...
Is the life of one of these units pretty short? Am I going to regret not waiting a couple of months, either for the price to go down, or a better model, or god knows what...
Is all the software on this model easy to use and comfortable to interface with a desktop, and does the Palm 5.0 really work more smoothly than what came before?

I hope you all can guide me:confused:

great unit. low on memory so you have to start buying accessories (like extra memory) immediately. you'll also want to invest in a case for the unit if extending it's life is one of your concerns. this means that at the very least, you're going to have to spend almost $100 right out the door, on top of the price of the unit.

i paid 5 and change for mine. then i spent the extra note that i mentioned above and then another buck and a half on the wifi card.

i'm happy with it. if you're buying it make sure you're buying it for what it offers above most of the competition.... keyboard, camera, flip-screen, hi-res+. it's too damned expensive for what it does otherwise.

also if you're looking for something with mass-storage to store all those mp3s, ebooks, and movies you want to watch on this lovely device, hold out for what is called a compact flash driver. vote with your wallet and let sony know that you're holding out for your purchase until...

let them know here:

I wonder about the keyboard, my fingers are a little big to expect that to be a great thing, the camera sounds like fun, but I don't need one. The hi-res and the flip screen are just what I want, but the memory lack will make buying even cheap memory sticks painful, I think. The mp-3 capability and the video player coupled with a very comprehensive planner/datebook/note-taking device/record-keeping program is just what I am looking for....
Thanks for the advice....

if you're not recording movies and only playing them you may even be able to go down to an NR????

someone with an NR may have to tell you.

being used to using a blackberry makes the keyboard easy to use for me i have big hands to.... (bigmaninsomepants)

I have an s360 and nx60. When someone asks me to recommend a unit and they don't want to use every single possible application and hack available (i.e normal person), I usualy tell them to check out the SJ30.

The NR was nice, but it isn't as stable and it had issues with the memory stick that never got fixed. Get the NX instead, if that's what you want. The NX is also a lot faster and more compatible with the latest Palm OS. I love my NX still, after 4 months!

can't go wrong with the Palm or Clie...my 85 year old grandfather learned 1 year ago and now he uses it constantly. Be patient the first week and you'll love it. I use the NX70. Love it. Simple to use. Great applications bundled with it so as you become more advanced...you'll appreciate its sophistication.
