Sony used a proprietary battery for the NZ. So, I don't believe anyone else can manufacture a less expense one.

It is a "smart" Lithium-Ion Polymer rechargeable battery.

NO one else has the battery. You can get it for a few $ cheaper at some other sites but thats about it. Sony has a unique understanding of the lithium batteries and so I doubt we will be seeing this particular battery anytime soon form another company. Also this batteyr was amde specifically for the nz. THere would be no money in reproducing it where as 3rd party ms work in a lot of devices and so this is profitable.

Apart from the smart capability, ie telling you how much time left before it runs out of power, I will also consider the compatibility of the battery and NZ. By saving, say $50, and using a third-party battery, you are risking the a $700 NZ. The risk and benefit just doesn't look attractive. The ratio on hand phone may look good but not NZ and notebook.

At the Sony Style web site under NX Accesories They list the following:

$ 39.99

I don't see any reason why this would not work on a NZ.

Any thoughts?

I do not think the NX battery adapter will work on the NZ because the sync connector, also used for charging, is different on these two devices.
