Can anyone confirm that the TH55 will have Bluetooth?
Neiter Japan or Hong Kong has it so why would Europe have it?

The device is clearly intended to have Bluetooth. There is a place for a Bluetooth indicator light onthe front. There is a section in the manual about Bluetooth. If there is going to be a Bluetooth-enhansed version released anywhere, it is going to be Europe, where Bluetooth reigns supreme.

(um.........your telling us the Japan and HK device are going to have BT) WHAT????????? On the Japan sony site it says no....... So its safe to sayJapan will not have BT neither will HongKong device.....
European models will have BT
ClieKun, I interpret "Neiter" as neither which means NOT. ;)
Actually he should say: Neither Japan, nor Hong Kong has it.... But we English speaking folks understood him though.

Not sure why Europe would. But then the European NX73 was released with BT, and nowhere else in the world. Maybe Sony marketing has found that BT is popular enough there to justify it.

BT is so very popular in Europe.. Mainly because people change their cellphones often in order to upgrade, most people have BT enabled devices. They just insert their sim cards in the new phone and gsm providers have fast gprs connection at no cost.. BTW they don't sell the phones with the subscription and that adds to the freedom of choice..

Not a great time to be an American wanting to buy something from Europe. The Euro is currently at $1.28 (& that's the rate that banks charge each other -- the exchange rate is worse).
At 450 Euros for the TH55 (you do the math), you *reeaaallly* have to want Bluetooth!

I live in EUroope and have used GSM since hte early 90es (the system you American refeers too "an outdated French standard :D  ).
Just because we have GSM phones doesnt mean Sony will have BT on it.
I seriously doubt it that the Euro versions will have Bluetooth.
Hong Kong also uses GSM and they dont have Bluetooth.
... I don't see how you made the connection between the TH55 (not) having bluetooth and the fact that Europe uses GSM...

confirmed. european th55 will be released with BT.
and, BT is not dying.. low battery consumption and connection speed make it very convenient to connect to the internet from everywhere.. -as long as you do have a BT cellphone- it makes me a wireless access point. i have my phone in my backpack and i can surf the net with my clie and my laptop virtually everywhere. it costs me approx 3 dollars a month for the service regardless of the amount of data I download. too good to be true. but it is the fact... the only drawback is the cost of the sony products in europe. that's why I bought my tg50 from the US..
any questions?

Europe is the biggest importer of BT devices in the world. so ofcourse its not dead in europe. Everyone knows at this point TH 55 europe device will have BT. But the rest of the world......don`t count on BT being as big as you might think.
