Hi everyone,
I've managed, using the automated online server, to register TakoSched, and thought I'd give a quick description here, since there appeared to be others trying to do this also.

First, you need to sign up at sw.vector.co.jp, using your email addr and the 4 number groups that TakoSche display when you get to the register screen ( second menu, second to last entry ). Go to

https://sw.vector.co.jp/swreg/step1.reserve_address_switch?vabroad=1&vsid=4212027Q9474434

The first pair of form entry elements are for your email, twice. Next, the huge box is for those 4 groups of 4 number TakoSched displays. At the bottom, name addr etc. Then hit the button on the bottom.

They will send you a 'thanks for signing up, we're getting to it' email, which is unreadable to me 'cause somewhere the utf-8 gets munged. However, shortly after you'll get a 'nice to meet you, here's the way to step two of the registration process' email. Look for the second link, like

http://www.vector.co.jp/swreg/step2.html

( note that there is no ident info on this one. They must drop a guide cookie )

That second page will have a place to enter your credit card info. The top form entry is for your name ( as on the card ) then card number, then pulldowns for expr date.

Once you hit that, you'll get to a 'we're confirming payment' screen', and next you'll get email with an attached file named TakoScheRegCode.prc, which unlocks the app.

This all took about 5 minutes once I got on the correct path.

Good luck everyone. I have some appointments to schedule.

Chris

Thanks for the info; that is great news. Now does anyone know if there is a way to modify the menus for English?

Actually, I have been using RsrcEdit to convert the menus. The first couple are simple ( the two main pull downs are in MBAR 1000 ), and the very first on, the 'new event' etc was easy. The prefs will be more work, as I try to figure out what each selection does.

I'm currently throwing http://www.t2bp.com/palmware/TakoSche/ through babelfish, trying to map out the options.

In particular ...

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.t2bp.com%2Fpalmware%2FTakoSche%2Fman_prefs.html

has a ton of info.

The app looks neat, but all I can say is WOW, sure seems like a lot of trouble to use an app that you also have to pay for. Maybe, once you get it translated, you can cut a deal with the developer to market the English version.:D

i would love to offer any assistance on translating the menus, but have never used rescedit. I have been using bablefish to translate the manual. Good luck

I tried to register using the info above. I seem to have found the right page for step one. When I hit the submit button, it brings me back to a blank form...but no email -- how long did it take for you to receive the email message on your registration to be able to move to step 2?

thanks.

Hi,
It only took a couple of minutes for that email message to reach me. What was the last URL you saw?

I've got the app about half translated. Would anyone want to help? I igure I'd send the modified copy, and you can use the online docs etc to check the translations.

If anyone can get in contact with the author, I'd like to also feed the changes back to him.

I'd be happy to help; and certainly can proof anything you've done against the manual. I printed out a Babelfish translation -- I think I understand most of it ;-) I got a registered copy and am now using it as my date book. My email is velocitysf@earthlink.net

I just received the following email from the author of Tako Schedule. I am installing it now.

Hello,

Thank you for your using TakoSche.

Now, I have released unofficial English version of TakoSche(includes
only programs, no manuals...).
If you want, please try it.

http://www.t2bp.com/palmware/TakoSche/TakoSche-en-unofficial.zip

Please note that I just translated Japanese to English, so the screen
layouts might be strange...

If you used Add-Ons, need to "search/regist" again from "Add-On Prefs."

This e-mail is sent to whom might seem to prefer English version to
Japanese one.
If you were not familiar to English (or couldn't read), sorry...

Thank you.

Best Regards,

yeah...Tako Schedule is great....it has a great layout for the UX-50 landscape mode; the ability to choose an icon that drops in a description is great (after I edit the icon description to English)....though another selection of icons would be nice. The author should market the English version.....I think it competes well against some other products.

Try out the icon editor! Its great, and makes creating animated icons very easy. Also, you can set the background color of a day by whether a certain icon is present for that day.
