PDA Avenue suffered a major database crash last week, worse than the one we suffered here at the Source not long ago. They came back up after that, minus the entire database, and were operational for about a week. Now the Avenue is moving to its own server which will provide better reliability and security. The server swap started last night and will continue through today. The Avenue should be back up by tonight if things go well. We at the Avenue apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Life in cyberspace, eh?
One of the new features when the Avenue returns later today will be a Windows active desktop item that will display the latest posts on the Avenue. We tested this before the swap and it works great. There will also be contests starting as soon as the site comes up.
Thanks to everyone for their patience.

The address is still propagating through the DNS system, so not everyone will be able to reach it yet. For those that can reach it, it should be fully operational.

PDA Avenue (http://www.pdaavenue.com/) is back up and working marvelously. Let the contests begin... :D

Sorry I have to wake this thread up, but I need to do this for a reason :(
PDAAvenue has undergone another crash, like the ClieSource one. But this time, PDAAve may never come to see the light of dawn again :(. See the message at www.pdaavenue.com

Not to kick the PDAAvenue folks when they're down, but the newest working backup they had was _months_ old? I'm used to PalmOS being that stable and I _still_ back that up 'most every day.

I agree this is a truly sad story
But when you don't backup, you're playing with fire

Wow...that does suck...I had just started to get comfortable over there too...even more comfortable there than here as of late.
This should serve as a warning to anyone who runs a website, backup daily!
These days there isn't much excuse not to backup. I have WS_FTP setup to backup my site's changed files every morning and I do a full database backup at least every week.
Good luck to all of the staff at PDA Avenue.
Yes, it's sad. I just found out today.

I found out yesterday and am thoroughly bummed. Guess I'll have to change my sig.
I can see that. You've spent lots of time putting great reviews in there.

Thanks. :) I really enjoy doing reviews to help folks make buying decisions. I always read others' reviews before buying myself. I may not disappear, though. I have an offer on the table to write reviews for another site. And, of course, all my PDA Avenue reviews are also on my website.
