Be careful with eCost. They tricked me with free shipping ad one time when I bought 256MB MS Select. When I got the bill, they managed to snick in a $11 handling fee. Grrr.

They gave me that price when I sent an email to DonaldD@pcmall.com. They price matched BB offer.

And you are right, they don't have a definite delivery date yet.

I believe eCost, PCMall, and MacMall are either the same company or very closely affiliated. When I ordered an iPaq 4150 from eCost last year, my order was shipped from PCMall.
Personally, I haven't had any problem with eCost, but I heard return is pretty tough with them.

Yes, I'm sure that they will EVENTUALLY get you your PDA. We should all know from past experience with these things that the quoted ship date means practically nothing. It's not based on any real information.

It's not based on any real information. Maybe the posted ship date means practically nothing...Maybe I'll get the TH55 earlier or quite possibly later. In any case, I do believe It will get shipped at around the same time that anyone else shipping it does so.

They don`t have a great rating compare to other stores.

Grrr. Yes, they have a handling fee that's graduated by product price...I got hit with it a few times myself...It doesn't show up until you're about to check out completely. Their actual service has been excellent, though, in my experience...

I don't see any reason why BB will ship any later than ecost. It makes business sense for SS to ship sooner than BB as some people are willing to pay $80 more to get them a week or two early. I'll be mad if I spend $80 more and end up getting it at the same time as others who buy them for less.

Well luckily my T-665 is working just fine and it's not a dire emergency for me to get the TH55 a week earlier for more than $50 additional. I would like to get the TH55 tomorrow though so I can start playing with it...:D

I am so regret that I just brought a UX40 few days ago from newegg.com. Now, I really want to return it. But I don't want to pay the stocking fees.

If I really can return it, I think I will pre-order one in e-cost.

But the price is 399 already. When did they change it? :(

I have what I hope is good news...

I pre-ordered my TH55 from BestBuy on 2/10. Since then, the charge had been showing up on my online bank statement under "pending transactions." BestBuy apparently pre-authorizes the charge for pre-orders to verify that the funds are available, but does not actually charge the card until the item ships. (This is similar to the way hotels operate: they preauthorize a certain amount on your card at check-in, but don't run the charges until they total your bill at check-out.)

Well, today I checked my online statement and the "pending" Best Buy transaction was gone, and there was no completed transaction listed either. So I was worried that my order had been cancelled, and called Best Buy.

The women I spoke to confirmed that my order has still in process, and had not been cancelled. In fact, she said that the order had been released to the loading dock, and should be shipped soon. She said that my card had not been charged yet, but would be within the next day or so, when the item ships.

She noticed that my delivery date estimate still read March 4, but said that I was likely to get the Clie before then, because the order had been released to loading. In her computer, the TH55 was no longer listed as a "preorder" or "backorder" item, so she said that this meant the Clies were in stock. However, she could not confirm what quantity they have on hand.

Customer service reps are notoriously ill-informed, so I'm only moderately hopeful that all of this is true, but, still, it's encouraging news!

Here that....? That's the collective sound of 35 Best Buy pre-orderers crossing their fingers... :)

Cheers, Rich

andrewcoffin--thanks for the info. It sounds like she knew what she was talking about. It's usually pretty obvious when a customer service person is making stuff up. At least, I think so. :D

I called them as well. They did the whole authorize-put-the-funds-on-hold thing when I ordered on the 10th. Since they didn't actually charge my account, my bank made those funds available to me again a few days later. I noticed yesterday that my available balance was lower than I thought it should be, so I called the bank and BB had put the funds on hold again. After reading the last post I called BB to see if this was just another authorization thing or if they were actually shipping my TH55. It, according to the lady, was just the same thing as on the 10th, just reserving the funds from my account. She said that it still showed an expected date of 4 Mar to 9 Mar.
I also asked her about the digital $50 for PDA orders over $200. She didn't seem to know much about it, but after I guided her to the promo, she said she wasn't sure if I would get them - that I would just have to wait and see. If I do get them I'm going to spend them on a spindle of 50 DVDs. They're normally $100 but are on sale right now for $49.99. TH55 + DVDs = $500 worth of stuff for $320. That's 36% savings. I can live with that.
I hope the lady didn't know what she was talking about and I get the TH55 in a few days. That would be awesome.

I sent BB.com that very question yesterday afternoon. They sent the standard auto-reply, and I expect to hear from them before the end of today. I'll post what they tell me.

I was really curious so I called BB again. The lady I talked to said that you may have been told it would be there in the next couple of days - it's headed to the loading dock because the person you were talking to forgot to consider that it was a preordered item. She was almost certain that I we won't be receiving these until 4 Mar.
I hate to be the nay-sayer, and I really hope I'm wrong, but I really doubt people who preordered through BB will be seeing their new Clies for another 2 weeks.

I also ordered on the 10th, but my status still shows "Preordered, release date is 03/04/04".  I hope you're right!

Best Buy's pre-order price is now 399.00. Also as of this past week, they had not Clie inventory of any kind in the stores. I would think they would have them in stock by now.

Mike

The brick & mortar stores are getting out of the PDA business; my local BB is clearing out accessories, and I noticed the King of Prussia PA store doesn't have a PDA section at all.
The pre-order price on the web store went up to $399 a few days after the $319 pre-order disappeared. As far as I know, nobody has gotten one shipped, either at the pre-order or regular price.

This thread has fallen quiet. Any new information on shipping dates? Anyone have any charges on their credit cards from Best Buy? Hello... echo... echo... echo...
