Can anyone help with mapping software & maps for the UK.

I would like to navigate to addresses in the UK. I am running an NX70V.

Also, does anyone know if/when any company is likely to release a GPS module to slot into the Card Slot.

TIA

Mapopolis!

They also have a GPS unit for the NX!

Thanks for the quick reply. I had a look at Mapopolis, but the maps are listed by counties which means that I would have to use 3 or 4 maps to get to most places I visit in a day!

I was wondering if there were any others? :)

The GPS unit looks a bit cumbersome, is there a gps unit for the CF slot?

Sorry to be sooo picky.

deeps,

Mapopolis maps are mainly for local routing - pick the town and then load up the appropriate county. Mapopolis are trying to get their map supplier to provide long distance maps for x-country work.

I use TomTom's Route for the latter. It's then a toss-up between Mapopolis or TomTom's city maps for the local details. Looking at both, I've gone for Mapopolis as they appear to have full UK coverage of every city, town and village!

As far as bulky, the Holux GPS is just a small "mouse" with a magnetic base - I've got it stuck to a metal grill behind me in the car. The cable supplied connects the GPS and Clie to the cigar lighter for power. There are CF GPS units but you'd need to get confirmation they will work in the NX CF slot; they'll also draw power from the NX battery!

Try TomTom. I have their London CityMap pack which extends to the M25 at A-Z level.

From what I remember they have a route planner version which covers all of GB.

I don't think TomTom work on the NX. I emailed them back when I got mine, and they said that they had no plans at that time to implement OS5 compatability. :(

for all the replies. It's good 2 get feedback from actual users, and in the UK 2!! :D

Do they mean delete, or just disable?

The program seems to check for the presence of any hacks, not just the obvious ones. I got the message on my NR70/V, even with all normal hacks (i.e. via X-Master) disabled. Desktop accessories, NR Buttons and BDicty all utilise hacks to work, but don't seem to have any real effect on Mapopolis.

Trying a few combinations, the only problem I've found has been Afterburner on my T625C: Mapopolis runs OK but the GPS isn't detected.

Well, at least it doesn't seem to crash your NR70V - I too have one - fatally. I think I might give Mapopolis a try. Thanks, stevec.
