The bigger question is which stores will it appear in & when? From previous posts here about BB winnowing its PDA selection, it's likely that store will take a pass, for example...

ummmmmmmm I wonder if they are going to hold true to the shipping date. Hyping the pre orders as typical sony crap as always.

It's not anti-american. It could just as well have been about any other nation.

Yes, I am very sure that if the alleged quote was regarding the Soviets/Russians that you would have rushed it into service just as quickly and with such "innocent" disregard.

Even if the quote were real, I do not believe it came from the mouth of a six-year old unless she was merely repeating drivel she heard from her uneducated parents' mouths.

It seems to always be open-season to bash Americans. It is politically incorrect and offensive to make derogatory comments regarding any other nationality. But to slur an American is A-okay. Why is that?

Also interesting that an "achievement", a spectacular "acheivement" is used here in a derisive manner. Akin to childish mentally myopic speech that one would expect of a 6-year old. But as we all know, children of that age do not yet possess the socially retarded prejudices that others claiming to be adults (sometimes based solely on their ability to legally order a pint of stout) can brandish.

Your showing of this political vomit is a small-minded attempt to demean others in order to elevate yourself. Perhaps if Sweden were a world super-power they too would be fair-game for such rubbish. However, they are decidely NOT.

A Swede probably has been to the moon, by the way. In an American's pocket in the form of a small tool. And only then if one of the Astronauts was not able to find a more suitable device.

If others read my response and find it offensive, go to a library, if your country has them, and pick up a history book. Study the many advances in technology, science and medicine that the terrible Americans have caused to be.

Frankly I am surprised that you have managed to post 55 times without some self-respecting American responding to your cutesy slander. If I were to start signing my posts with some such stench-ridden prejudicial garbage, every amateur social engineer (from any and every country) would flame me without regret. But as long as it is directed at Americans it is acceptable.

NO IT IS NOT.

That's the point - it was about Americans, not any other nation. That makes your arguement that it could have been about any other nation null & void.

A very good (and accurate) point, Sir.

Mmm-hmmm (clearing throat), let's get back to the original thread.

Even though Sony's been known to delay their delivery, I remember stopping by the Sony Store and picking up a device two weeks before it was supposed to come out! They have a rather odd delivery process. So if you're in a city with a Sony Store, it's always a good idea to call and see if they have any in stock.

Wow, you guys sure take the random ramblings of a six year old girl very seriously. But all right, if you feel my signature is offensive, I'll change it. Still, I feel the need to defend myself.

I assume you're being sarcastic here (it's hard to tell on the net). If so, then yes, I would have used that quote regardless of what nationality it was about. Don't make assumptions about my intent.

Even if the quote were real, I do not believe it came from the mouth of a six-year old unless she was merely repeating drivel she heard from her uneducated parents' mouths.

The quote comes from a book with funny children's quotes. It could be that she's repeating what someone else said, but I interpreted it as "Wow, they've sent people to the moon! That's cool, they should send more!". But perhaps my interpretation is wrong, it's impossible for anyone to know for sure.

Even if I were to take the quote seriously (which I don't see why I should, considering it was made by a six year old girl), it isn't derogatory. It doesn't say "Americans are bad". If anything, it says more about the girl (or whoever she was quoting) than it does about Americans.

Also interesting that an "achievement", a spectacular "acheivement" is used here in a derisive manner.

How do you know it was meant in a derisive manner? How can you possibly know anybody's intentions across the net? At best, you can guess. Do not assume things; assumption is the mother of all f*ck-ups.

Akin to childish mentally myopic speech that one would expect of a 6-year old. But as we all know, children of that age do not yet possess the socially retarded prejudices that others claiming to be adults (sometimes based solely on their ability to legally order a pint of stout) can brandish.

Exactly. That's why I don't understand why you make such a big deal about it.

Your showing of this political vomit is a small-minded attempt to demean others in order to elevate yourself.

How can you possibly know my intention behind using that quote as my signature? FYI, my intention was not political. My intention was to share something funny. I have no beef with Americans.

Perhaps if Sweden were a world super-power they too would be fair-game for such rubbish. However, they are decidely NOT.

American culture (in this case, Hollywood) has produced its fair share of jokes about Sweden, and Swedish "bikini women" in particular. But I see nothing offensive in that, because I realise the intent behind those jokes are most likely not political.

A Swede probably has been to the moon, by the way. In an American's pocket in the form of a small tool. And only then if one of the Astronauts was not able to find a more suitable device.

Actually, one of the men who landed on the moon is of Swedish descent; one of his ancestors were from the area near Stjärnsfors in Värmland. Believe it or not, he's actually a very distant relative of mine. I know this because of his last name - historically, there's only been one family with that last name in the area, and that family is related to me.

If others read my response and find it offensive, go to a library, if your country has them, and pick up a history book. Study the many advances in technology, science and medicine that the terrible Americans have caused to be.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. Do you think I dislike Americans, or something?

Frankly I am surprised that you have managed to post 55 times without some self-respecting American responding to your cutesy slander.

This is what my dictionary (Noah Pro) says about the word slander:

"1) the act of defaming
2) words falsely spoken that damage the reputation of another"

Please explain how her quote fits this description. The fact that she thinks "all Americans should be sent to the moon" does not defame Americans. And her words do not "damage the reputation of another". If anything, her words damage HER reputation, and mine for quoting them :-)

-Jhintonh (the "J" stands for "Just sold my Swiss Army Knife...)

Are you confusing Switzerland with Sweden? Swizz army knives are from Switzerland, not Sweden. Don't get your prejudices mixed up. :-) Switzerland is the country with the watches and the Swizz bank accounts - Sweden is the country with the bikini girls and polar bears in the streets. ;-)
