Softick has a new beta application out that supposedly will enable internet access through the USB cradle.
NX series Clies with Windows 2000/XP supposedly will only work for now.
(some Palms too)
Softick PPP is the name. I have NOT tried this yet, I only wanted to make others aware of it's existance.

Since I hate NetFront so, it probably won't work for me:).

I think it would help those who still do not have the wireless card to get an idea how things look on the NX---ie the internet etc

I have my WiFi CF card, so it doesn't appeal to me. I see many requests for cradle internet capability though.

Hi Larry,
Is there a better alternative than NetFront? I've not tried any others but have a problem with it's 2mb foot (boot) print too.
And to answer some ones elses comment, why bother when you are already at your laptop... I would be cool to veiw the web for "intersting" stuff and not have to clutter up you lap top's display. However plugging in an old CT display and going duel moniter would do the trick, if you have the desk space to do that.

Get PowerRUN 1.2 and run NetFront completely from Memory Stick. PowerRUN is a miraculous utility.

Larry, do you know how to set this up to work? The site offers empty links for setup instructions.

Thanks for the link! I tried this and was able to connect once, but now I get an error "Unable to create PPP connection, could be a problem with network or USB drivers". Anyone else had this problem?

Ok, so I can get it to connect to my computer, but not to the internet. As such, I can use PalmVNC from the cradle (yeah yeah, no practical use and all...) but I can't surf the net or use AIM. Any ideas?

No, I don't sorry! There have been tons of queries, even a few arguments:) that some have expressed in the past. PPC users can do it without too much difficulty and some Palm users want the same. This is the first of it's kind and I believe it's still beta, but it's encouraging that a developer is trying.
I decided to put the word out for those in wanting:D!

Same problem for me.
I get a connection to the local PC and, if I'm using the IP addresses instead of hots names, a connection to other PC's in the network, but not to the Internet.

You guys are all having the same problem as me...can connect to computer, tcp/ip is shared, but I can't use AIM or any browser. Anyone has had this problem and fixed it?

Softick has already posted the instruction of setting up RRAS and NAT, however, these settings only exist for win2k server and above, have yet to come across RRAS for win2k professional... However, if you all like, you can setup a proxy server such as wingate or AnalogX proxy, then setup your palm browser (must support proxy) to point to your host address, and you can start surfing.
The problem is icq and AIM doesnt seem to have a proxy specs... so cant get it to work as yet.. waiting to catch my network guys to try and resolve this.
hope it helps...

First, I'm not running win2k, I'm running xp (I know, basically the same) BUT softick says you should be able to use RAS without NAT if you're not using dialup and you're on a connection which will automatically allocate you more than one IP addres....maybe I'm missing something, but if so, I'm not about to set up a proxy for my clie, lol.

Problem is that there is no RRAS for win2k professional or XP, tatz y i cant seem to find a way to share connection.. i m trying to c if it is possible to setup a transparent proxy, whereby internet connection will be shared automatically though... Any help will deeply be appreciated.

I ran it fine off my Windows 2K. You need to setup your network setting to allow incoming connections then select to recieve from the palm. After this I just ran netfront and it worked fine.

I'm not sure what is different about what you're doing, but I posted the question at softick's website, and some guy who obviously doesn't speak english answered incomprehensibly that "i dont know, but you can help to Lots Pepoles Too Thats Ask How You Configure The Software In Windows?"
Besides "I don't know" I didn't understand any of that response!

Maybe you should ask again about the part you don't understand. English isn't everybody's first language, you know.

I know...theguy emailed me back and said "How do you configure the software in windows" but I don't know what he means. Basically, he is asking me a question that I don't know the answer to in response to a question I asked.
