Has anyone found a way to run Picsel viewer in NX70V yet?

It would be illegal in any case if you could, without paying for it.

FYI, there was a thread on this earlier that has now been removed.

But it's not fair because I really want this software and I know it runs in OS5!!!

I also want to pay for it BUT I CAN'T because nobody is selling it!!!

I think that in this case Sony is making us being illegal!

OK.  I'm an idiot.  What is Picsel?  What does it do?

It's a Viewer. It can open Word, Excel, Pdf, Powerpoint files without the need of converting them into palm compartible.
So that if someone emails you a Doc file at your palm you can read it instantly, edit it, and send it back.

Why would it be illegal for just trying out? If you like it then buy otherwise dump it!

No other software can do that.
And Picsel (The company that makes it) does not sell it! You can find it only if you buy Clie NZ model!

Only The new Documents to Go that will be ready in this Summer will have the same capabilities.

You cant edit with Picsel. Its just a viewer.

Yes its kind of like Quickview for your Quickview for your PC.

Whoops, too many Quickviews.
Although I suppose I could have just edited it out rather than waste another post to point it out. Hehe.

I believe by next month you will be able to download a free trial and buy it if you like it. Sony just had an agreement w/the company to make it for the nz but I think support for the other clies will be coming. Just a rumor I keep hearing... not neccisarily true.

I just tried using it for a .pdf manual that I have for work, and it is at best a poor substitute. The user interface is kludgy, takes a lot of getting used to, and the instructions for using it are almost non-exsistant. It may work better for Word and Excel files, but for those I'll stick to Docs to Go.

So is there a way to test it on my NX?

Yea, you can buy an NZ, then copy it to the NX. I suppose that would be legal since you would then own a copy. Or just wait until it can be purchased seperatly.

I will find another way.

 If I'm not mistaken, you can't hotsync files on your palm other than .prc, .pdb or .pqa right? So this means that you can only use the PicSel Viewer with a Mem Stick to read "Word, Excel, Pdf, Powerpoint files" if don't want to convert them to palm compatible.

Sounds confusing, huh...

Yea, the files would need to be on a Memory Stick. No big deal though, as it would be much easier copying files to the MS to view them then to run it through a convertor every time.

I happened to be one of the lucky ones that downloaded the piscel viewer when someone had posted it. Unfortunately, I tried to install it on my nx70v and no icons or anything showed up. So far, it was designed to work ONLY on the nz90.

i noticed the picsal wont show up until i did a reset, and also when i did the install and rest, it acutally did almost like a hard reset, it was very odd, i dont understand...but it works now

Before I got my NZ90, I was so excited about the Picsel Viewer. After trying it out, I've gone back to Documents to Go! It does exactly what they say it will do - you can VIEW the document. Forget reading it. Just look and see how pretty it looks.

How did you install and make it work on NX?

I thought you had to install particular files first, then soft reset? and install the rest. Do not remember all the instructions. I would like to have this software and would be willing to pay for it. However, I would not give up my Docs to Go functionality. I guess I will just wait for the new DataVis software since these guys do not want to sell it to us!?

Do not install it-it is not worth the CD it comes on-useless-you cannot do anything with it!! Why did Sony go with the version of an unproven program-I went back to Docs to Go as well with In Box to go-much better.
You do not even watn to try this useless piece of junk program-do not put it on your NX, it is not worth the time and effort or the incredbile memory space it uses as well.
