Okay, I've got a NZ-90 and I'm trying to port DVD chapters over to it. (I have a 128 MB card).

My first route was SmartRipper (.vob), Mpeg Mediator (Dvix), EasyX Video converter (MPEG-1), and then Image Converter.

This worked pretty well, until I realized A. It takes forever. B. The image comes out stretched.

I'm ripping from the Matrix... which is in "Super Widescreen" and comes out in "Quasi Widescreen"... I don't like Neo's head to look like it's sat under a car for a day!

I've tried Super DVD Converter, ImTOO DVD, DVD to Mpeg Converter.... and all of them do the same image warping..

I think the conversion to Mpeg-1 is where the problem comes through...

HELP ME!!

I have a 700 mHz P3, and am afraid to run TMPGenc, because I think my PC might blow up...

Anyone else having the warping problem?

I think I have a solution to both A and B.

Possible solution for A: Does MPEG Mediator allow you to select both the Audio and Video Codecs? If I remember correctly, Image Converter will accept at least some versions of DIVX as long as the audio is uncompressed PCM or a constant bitrate MP3 file. Otherwise, you might want to look into FlaskMPEG to convert the VOB's into .AVI files. I think it allows you to make a .AVI that Image Converter likes. Then you don't have to convert into .MPEG, saving you some time.

If solution A works, then you will probably have normal sized video. Currently, my best guess is that your EasyX Video Converter limits the resolution that can come out and it will stretch the video as needed to fit the resolution instead of scaling it. There may/maynot be an option to control scaling, but I don't know since I've never heard of the program before. Search preferences for either scaling or stretching and play with them and test on short video clips. If solution A works, then you don't need to convert to MPEG and since this is probably where the problem comes in you would completely avoid it.

Good luck and hopefully this is of some use. Feel free to look at my video conversion tutorial linked in my sig, and hopefully if what I said above doesn't help the tutorial will. Good luck once again.

there is an option in mpegmediator to scale the movie from widescreen into 4:3 regular ratio so you can see it better..
