Good Evening-
Has anyone been able to ascertain if the TH55 will incorporate an enhanced IR port like the NR/NX/TG? If it does, will it include the remote control software? If not, will the remote control software from the NR/NX/TG migrate over?

I've read a lot of sites but can find no reference to it having this feature. Further, pages 51-56 of the .pdf TH55 manual list the software that is included & no mention is made of any remote control software.
As for migration, I don't know. I thought it depended on the type of IR port, but I certainly would like to be proved wrong.

I don't think it will.

I suspect it won't, but I have no real knowledge.
The last PDA I saw that boasted an Enhanced IR port is, in fact my T665.
I know my friend's SJ33 didn't, and I don't think the NR, NR, NX, UX, or TJ have enhanced IR either.
Now that I've said that we can sit back and wait to see people tell us which ones do :D
If the UX AND NX have E-IR then there's a good chance the TH will too, else no...
But as everyone says - It hasn't been mentioned so we can only assume it doesn't...

The NR's do i believe and the NX's definitly do (i own one). The UX however, doesn't have enhanced ir...maybe sony is done with enhanced infrared.... :(

oh no, sony is doing away with enhanced IR? I have so much fun with it on my NX. Sony should leave the feature in.
I'm beginning to wonder Sony is cutting cost at the expense of features. TH55 has no cradle, now no enhanced IR...what else does it not have that my current NX has...(minus the keyboard cus it's a different form factor)
How much of an upgrade is TH55?

I have to say that IR in my NX is pretty bad compare to T3. T3 has a very strong IR!

As you said, probably not too much of an upgrade for you...but at least you can use your cradle. :)
For those of us currently using T series Clies, the TH55 represents a significant upgrade - in speed, in RAM, in function, in design, etc. I've been saving my "sous" for a long time for a unit like this one!

Good Morning-
I own an NR70v and it does indeed have enhanced IR and the built-in remote software.
Purchasing an NX73 is starting to look like a better course than the new TH55, for me anyway.
