At least, from the pictures it looks like the screen is rather dim. Anyone can compare with T3 or NX even? I would like to see some comparison pictures if anyone can find them already.

What I see from those pictures is that sure, the screen doesn't look as bright, but on the other hand, the TH's screen also doesn't look as washed out. The blacks seem a lot truer on the TH's screen than on the NX73V. I for one can settle for a little darker screen if it means that I have a higher quality picture.

Those are also not "side by side" pictures.... they are two photos of the units placed side by side... and the photo of the TH55 is with the clear cover down which reduces the visibility of the screen slightly. I had an NX80v (which has the same screen as the NX73 used in the comparison photo) and it held its own against a Tungsten T3! I feel the TH's screen will have more accurate color rendition than the T3 and will be more than acceptable for daily use... (the T3 to me is more washed out on some colors, my NX80 was a much better looking screen) :)

Plus the Sony screens do not have the high pitched noise coming from them like the T series

For me, at least, I always turn down the brightnesss of my T615 in order to conserve battery life. I don't *need* a blindingly bright PDA. What I do need is a handheld which doesn't quit on me in the middle of the day!

We are all looking for different things & have different priorities (based on our needs) & that's normal.

Don't think screen brightness would be a problem. I have a T3 and I keep the brightness down around 1/3 of full brightness. On full brightness it's too darn bright, anyway.

Good Evening-
The screen comparisons to the T3 are interesting since I believe I read that Sony makes the T3 screens.

Seriously now, what kind of PDA user actually puts their screen at full brightness anyway?

I do, but I also use Energy Dimmer (http://www.79bmedia.com/dimmer/).

I always keep my backlighting turned down to a smidgen above off. I was the same way with my Palm IIIc (which didn't turn off completely) and my notebook. Bright LCDs give me an awful headache and since they eat battery and reduce the life of the LCD (well, the backlighting part anyway) I just don't see the point in turning them up.

I sure hope the TH55 includes the ability to turn the backlighting off. I spend a lot of time under flourescent lights whhere I don't need the backlighting. Same goes for outside. You can't turn the backlighting off on some Palms and it really irritates me.

What's interesting is that I use to hate the fact that my PDA didn't have backlighting (this is going back quite some time). I guess LCDs have really improved dramatically over the years. I can't wait to see a Clie that uses OLED. That will rock.

I'm the same gk.
Hell, I wish my T665's brightness could *even lower* sometimes!! ;)

I agree, I wish the range was greater, so when you are reading in the dark you could lower it more than the current minimum on my TG50.
The max brightness is fine, but the min needs to be lower.
