USA Release Date?

I was just wondering when the TH55 is officially released in the US? If this question has been addressed before, sorry.

I thought it hadn't but I just wanted to make sure. I know several sites were rumoring a Feb 15th release, but with that being on or around the Japanese release, it didn't seem plausible. I've also heard late February - like the 26th or something, but again, that seems way too close to the Japan release.

I asked my corporate contact at CompUSA to see if he knew when they would be getting it in stock. He said it wasn't even in their system yet, nor were any of the new ones. But he doesn't think it will be too long, since they are not restocking any of their current Sony models except for the TJ25.

Okay if it's not too long after the japanese release, do you think it would be the same for the uk release? If it's not a long delay, I'd rather import the BT model than get one sooner here without bluetooth.

If Sony tardies too much releasing this model, it might have competition from the "rumored" E2 Palm which is supposed to have VG. Or from the current T|3 model which has been marked down to below $400 & now can be had for $350 or less.

I can't believe that Sony has been so painfully slow in developing/releasing a tablet form VG PDA since for years Sony *set* the standards & it was Palm playing catch up.

I have a contact in a National Office Supply Store Chain that tells me the TH55 is showing in stock date of 2/17/04 in his warehouse, which he says takes about 3-5 days to get routed to the stores from that date. It is also in his company database at $399.99 (the TJ37 is $299.99 and the TJ27 is $199.99)
and NO I did not say whether it was Office Max, Office Depot, or Staples. I respect his confidentiality. FYI...

I'm getting mine in HK Feb 20 as I was told when I placed my order. I guess it would be pretty much same back in the States.

I saw a card today in Circuit City in Flint, MI that had it on there, but no TH present. The date on the card was 1-15, but obviously THAT didn't happen. There were very few details on the card.

I hope it isn't too soon, because I need to have the cash-in-hand when it does come out so I can rush out and get it. And I won't have the cash for another week and a half. Hey, what color TH55 does everyone plan on getting? I'm eying the red colored one, simply because it is different.

LOL, sounds like it will be my UX momement relived once again. Once I get a date, I'll run over to that store and get the clie before they have a chance to put it up on display, I said I don't care if you open it, just give me it so I can buy it. Then in the car on the way home to play, I was amazed how small the UX was but still love this lil baby :).

Although my memory is terrible at times, I thought I remembered Sony historically making announcement and having them available on SonyStyle that same day. So let's hope. Would love to have my hands on it within the coming weeks.

The TH 55 might come in only black.....in the usa. But they could release red too.

would be interesting to see cases designed for the TH once they become available, my guess is that it will be a design challenge to keep the flip cover since it seals the front rim.

I hope vaja will make one similar to the T-series case, i dont mind getting rid of the translucent cover.. well see.:)

I was just in Circuit City today. They have the TH55 in their computers at a list price of $399 USD. The sales mgr told me if it's in the computer, then it will be in the stores by the end of the week.

That tracks with what I saw in Flint yesterday. Best Buy told me yesterday that they are making room for their MP-3 and MP-4 machines, so they are getting out of the PDA's.
