According to the PDF doc posted on the Hong Kong Sony site about the TH55, it will ship with a USB cable only, not a cradle. Of course, you can buy the optional cradle UC55A. What a rip, I would think that a cradle would be a must for this unit out of the box. But then that may be how they are justifying the lower-than-UX50 price.

The TH55 would appear to be priced competitively. Sony has to cut corners somewhere (hey, Palm packaged the T|E in blister pack!) so I think the cradle was a "sacrifice."

In the balance, the T-Series unit owners get WiFi, a faster processor, more RAM, VG, voice memos,a camera & an intriguing new PIM for probably as much or less than they paid for their earlier Clie.

Some would say it's a reasonable trade...

I would wait to see what they are selling it for. But even the T/3 comes with a cradle and it's suggested list is $399.

Good Evening-
It is a little chintzy. However, I have only seen speculation as to the TH's USA price. I did convert the Hong Kong Dollar price and that came to be about $475 I believe. If it sells in the USA for over $400 and does not come with a cradle, that will be a travesty. If they price it at about $350 I can live without a cradle in the box (but I will purchase one separately). Does anyone have a firm fix on the USA price?

A very early post I saw shortly after the papers for the TH55 were filed with the FCC (because of the WiFi) gave some prices from Staples for 3 new PDAs from Sony - the most expensive was priced at $349. I'm hoping that it does come out at this price for if it's more than the T|3, some people will consider that unit (with more RAM, landscape, faster processor, Docs2Go, & a cradle) a better deal. I passed on the T|3 because of the numerous reported problems (including an abysmal battery life) not all of which were fixed with patches from Palm.

I personally *wanted* a cradle but I realize that fewer & fewer devices are coming with one standard -- none of the lower end ones.

I also realistically understand that I will have to sacrifice some things I want because Sony simply did not consult me before creating this model -- the nerve of them!! ;)
