Yes the european model (UK -DE- FR) are both Bluetooth AND Wi-Fi... but only with the black suit... no red version in Europe !!

I can't read French so its a case of "Ooh pretty pictures", but I noticed page 5 of the article shows a red TH55 with all four LEDs on the top, including the Bluetooth.
Is it really either/or on the Red/Bluetooth?

Is it really selling for 450 Euros? Geez, that's approx USA $560. Is Sony nuts, I can't believe people would be willing to pay that for a unit with an underpowered processor (123 mhz) and only 32 mb of RAM. So much for my initial excitement! :(

I have read that the Japanese price was 39,000yen, which corresponds to around $380USD. The TH37 was 29,000yen, which was approx. $280USD. Don't quote me on the conversion, the yen price was taken from the Sony Japan website. Also remember that electronics sell for a premium price in Europe compared to the corresponding US models.

Prices may be (too) high, but at least we Europeans can find some comfort in the fact we do get Bluetooth :p

First, the European version has BT, something the US version will not have.
Second, the dollar is very weak currently in comparison to the Euro, the conversion being about $1.25= 1 Euro dollar. That makes the unit *seem* so expensive in terms of American dollars.
It's doubtful that Sony will price this unit for the US market at over $400 if that -- to do so with the T|3 (more RAM, landscape mode, BT but not WiFi) would be hazardous to Sony's bottom line.
IMO.

I agree, I think that the US model will be around 350. Anything more than that would cause people to look into similarly priced models and realize that there are better ones out there. Anything less would lose money for Sony.

Thanks to guys like Bush and Cheney the TG is so expensive in the USA :D :D :D :D :D
But oil is cheaper!
well to US and EU prices, now UX50 costs 649 usd in the US whereas it cots 749 euros in europe
prices in europe are far higher then in the US ..
so I guess the street price of TH55 will be $399

$349 more likely, to fill that slot in the store's catolouge and to undermine the T3.

Okay guys be honest! Have you ever known Sony to price their electronics to be competitive? Here is a company that traditionally prices their electronics a lot higher than comparative items from competing manufacturers. I suspect that the TH55 will be no different. I hope I'm wrong...

zackepceo,
I'm going with your estimate since I think that Sony is smart enough to undercut Palm.
Face it, PDAs are in a slump right now & Sony wants as much of the market as it can get. The TH55 is not intended to be its "high end" model, rather I think it's the top of the "middle end."
IMO.

Becareful with the European price in Euros... it's VAT include (19,6%).
376,20 Euros without VAT

And the reverse also holds: the US price quoted is *pre-tax* which can run anywhere from I'm guessing 6% to 10% depending on the state. So the US unit appears cheaper than it will actually be.
Sometimes sites such as Dell (which doesn't have a local presence in my state) will sell computers, etc. without charging tax. Is is possible to bypass the VAT in Europe in some way?

Oh you mean legally? :D
Erm, well... I think education and government can claim it back... :)
£299 for UK is a lot but not bad still - the sony place near me was still selling T675's for that much!!!!

A UK (and probably any other European) supplier would not have to charge VAT on an export sale to a place outside the EU.
