There are vehment discussions in Taiwan's and HongKong's Clie forums right now. The apparent lack of BT in the Japan model has drawn various suspections and more importantly, the rumors that US model will have BT function.

If it turns out to be true, TH55 will be among the few Clie models that actually come with better specs overseas than domestically.

Is there any information regarding this possibility? And for the sake of everyone, a definite one?

no, sony told the fcc that bt will not be available. It would be a crime if sony would release one with bt.

I know that the US model won't have BT, but does anyone know WHY it won't have BT? Is there some technical reason? Or does it just have to do with Sony not wanting to cut through all of the FCC's red tape?

Bluetooth? In the US model?

As they say in French, "Non, absolument pas!"

This will probably be a feature for a higher end Clie. A reason for the early adopters, Clie-addicts, to upgrade within a year's time or less. ;)

More money for Sony -- & isn't that the point, after all?

No BT? Ay. Woulda been a killer if it had BT

I can kind of see why they wouldn't do BT in the US. BT as a whole really hasn't taken off here yet like it has in Europe or Japan. The US has always been kind of late in getting any kind of new technology off the ground. It seems like a lot of American consumers are either happy with what they have, or too afraid to upgrade to something so new and unsupported; but then again if companies like Sony released more products here with BT or similar new technologies than perhaps it would start to succeed here.

But I still don't get why they wouldn't want BT in that unit. It's not that difficult since the UX has it. I doubt it's a price thing since there are now really cheap BT keyboards and mice. I just find it ridiculous Sony wouldn't want to trick out all of their PDAs. I figure all of them now will have cameras, just because that's what the market wants. And such is the case with BT. I suppose we'll all have to compare notes on the cheapest European merchant for these units then.

Well simple logic, why spend more money on BT if there is a slowdown of its need. There are not as many devices BT (As they though it would be)

if it does not have bluetooth then it sucks.

Then I wont sell my UX.
