Liked the TH55 but, worth buying one with the PalmOS 6 right around the corner?
Would like to hear it from you :D

I will personally be waiting for the OS6 device with the OLED screen. If you've seen an OLED in action, I don't think you'd want to go back to a regular LCD ever again.

For what I know I've not seen OLED screens in action, not even in photos or comparison photos; do you have any link?

Now this bring me another question: an OS6 device with the OLED screen will last long to be released?

I know how you feel UFG. Palm OS 6 isn't that big an issue for me, but the OLED screens are something that I am very keen to wait for - especially as Sony plans to release one in the Spring.

However, OLED has been a LONG time coming, and I am thinking that it could take some time before it is standardized and bug free. I'd hate to be the guinea pig on a technology that has proven as difficult to bring to realization as OLED has. I figure that the TH55 may be a great bridge model to own during the period when OLED finally establishes itself and becomes the standard.

Actually, its amazing how little discussion there is on the web about this technology. Can anyone point me to some in depth info on this?

I have been longing for a Clie with a high-res (320 x 480) display, a fast processor and a decent amount of RAM in a tablet form factor and at long last, it's here (well, almost). The lack of OS 6, or any word on upgradability, concerns me but not as much as I thought it would. To be honest, my interest in OS 6 is purely cosmetic (if the possible screenshots (http://www.palminfocenter.com/ss.asp?f=possible_palm_os6_ss_l.jpg) of OS 6 are legitimate) . Multitasking would be nice to have although I've not found the lack of it to be a real limitation. Regardless, I'm itching to buy a new Clie and the TH55 has everything I've ever wanted. Not buying one would be silly.

While I'm on the subject, have any legitimate screenshots of OS 6 been released? I'm curious if PalmSource has spiffied up the UI. I love how slick OS 6 looks in the aforementioned possible screenshots.

I always thought I would snap the TH55 form factor right up but after owning my NX60 for awhile I think I'll wait for OS6 and hopefully an OLED display. The old NX does everything I want it to for now and it's fast enough for my needs. The updated PIM apps that come with the TH55 look really cool though! If I were to upgrade now the new PIM apps would be the reason.

Face it, there's always something new coming down the pike, to be released in 3 months, 6 months, next year, etc.

For T-Series users this unit represents what many have been waiting so long for (VG) & more. That it has OS5 is an advantage, IMO, since I"ve done the guinea pig thing for years with new software on my computer & now I just want things to WORK.

There is a lot of software out there that *is* OS 5 compatible but it remains to be seen how nicely they will run (if at all) with the newer OS. Personally, I'm delighted that I won't have to do the testing myself. ;)

Well, if you already have an OS5 based device, just wait for the OS6 to come out, there is no sense spending money for the Th55 just to have the OS6 device come out in a few months time because I am sure when OS6 devices comes out, we will be buying them for sure

Ooooooooooo my hands are all itchy for the TH55 with the 1.3mp camera,Wifi, and the lovely oh lovely 320x480 hi-res+ screen! But I shall take your word for OLED screens. Gotta hang on tight

I read that OLED screens have a short(er) life compared to other LCD screens.

Me, too... but it's the "well, almost" that has me deciding to wait. I don't know if OS6 will be a huge deal to me, but I at least want a faster processor than what's in the TH55... and more memory wouldn't hurt.

ni+mh, that's a 0.3 _CMOS_ camera.

but i have the same dilemma. my sj33 is ecent enough, but if i want to make the switch, i don't just want an upgrade.

the speed, camera and controls of the TH55 is an issue for me. i'm more of a gaming person, especially emulation. it already hurts that PPC have up to PS emulation capabilities, but the TH55 jogdial and buttons are completely not for gaming purposes...
i would go for a zodiac, but the whole thing still seems kinda iffy.

and i was hoping i could integrate my gba with my palm this time...

Enjoy!

Sorry everyone for bringing up a 3 month old thread, but I wonder if since then there's been any updates on this matter (OS6) ?

Do not wait if you need it now!

Do not waste money even it is OS 6, 7, 8...etc if you don't really need it. Unless, your existing set is spoiled.

For me, I will stick with TH55 until OS6 device out. But still depend the design, eg. UX form is the set that I will not like it at all.

As much as I love my TH55, I can't help but get an NR70V-like vibe from it.

Like it's a groundbreaker but the ones after it will really take the ball and run with it.

This isn't a bad thing by any stretch. I'll be there watching and waiting too...

-with my TH55. ;)

OS Cobalt will probably only come in high-end devices, the rest will probably run OS Garnet
