Just curious about what are your favorite AvantGo Channels. Mine are:

This should probably go in the Apps forum but here goes.
Reuters is one of my faves. The rest:
*AccuWeather.com
*BBCNews
*New York Post
*New York Times (all)
*PalmInfocenter.com
*PDANews24 Mobile
*WashingtonPost.com

I use iSilo - I have about 15 "channels" saved to the memory card, equalling about 5MB, and another 3MB of one-time sync pages ... needless to say, I am not impressed by AvantGo, nor do I like the idea of paying a monthly fee for extra space ...

AvantGo allows me to update all of this on the road using my cell phone as a connection to the AvantGo server.
(AvantGo also functions as a limited web browser too.)
Do any of the competeing programs allow for this?
From what I've seen so far they all seem to require a conduit setup on another computer, a significant liability if one is 2000+ miles away! ;)

I like it much better than Mobipocket. Mine are,
Accuweather
Reuters
The Universe Today
I have used "hollywood.com" too, but lately it's hit or miss as to if it will sync. "metacritic.com" and "accuweather.com" are also great.

I just added Hollywood.com to my channels about a week ago and I have yet to have it sync properly. I'd planned on dumping it but just haven't got around to it yet.
Are there any Avantgo channels that have tv listings?

I didn't see the utility of Mobipocket at all.
I don't use AvantGo anymore.
I discovered Mobipocket Web Companion and eNews Creator (I was part of the Beta Program) and it's much better than AvantGo.
You can receive your eNews by email on your smartphone, you can set up a specific day for synchronization, and you can create your own channel from an existing AvantGo channel, or a RSS/XML feed or a standard website !!
Few clicks, and your favourite website in your pocket.

HandStory can do the same thing, and is only limited by the memory in the device. (Like iSilo, it can convert a lot into a PDB, like images, webpages, and the like, and is unique in that it adds itself to the right-click menu for compatible docs - no need to launch the program to convert. I, however, like the added features of iSilo, and because I have my PC set up to boot and convert at about 0600 every day ;) ...)
AvantGo, IMHO, is not worth the pain ... especially for those who like carrying around a lot ...

What in the world is the "Pain" as you say?? Ya lost me on that one Zeke...I push a button and I walk away...pretty painless if you ask me! ;)

"Hmmm, which channels should I rotate into my 2MB of space today? " Add a larger e-mail account (or the Turcic.com comics script :D) and the space shrinks quickly. Also, there's that little add-channels-through-web thing, but that isn't that annoying.
More plugs for iSilo/HandStory/Plucker etc. - have a webpage you just want to put on ONCE? I'll use the Wing Commander scripts (navigate through the archives of www.wcnews.com ...) as an example. If you want 'em on your device, you should only have to convert them once (thankfully - at 230-1019k apiece ...). Not only would they kill your AvantGo account, they'd take forever to convert every ... single ... time ... in the other readers, you can quickly select what channels to convert and which to not ... and they all offer better e-book features, too ...
Even subtracting the one-time-only channels from my size total, I still have 4878k of daily-update channels. With such expansions, AvantGo is fading ... it was a great precursor, and one of the best programs of its time, but there is better now ...
(One plug for AvantGo, though - it's free (for 2MB) ... and is easier to use than the other free alternative, Plucker ...)

AVG is good better then the rest. There are a few burps from time to time. But after 3 years I say its still worth it.

I don't know...AvantGo is perfect for my uses...'different strokes for different folks', and I'll leave it at that.

I remember a couple of years ago there was talk...(from AG themselves) of them going under. I almost freaked! If I lost that app then about half the reason I use my PDA's would be gone. I read a TON of news from AG.

I heard this, but they upgraded to a pay version. But the added ads to the free version.
