Try looking to see what is in your startup folder in the Start menu.

if you go to the sony support site there is a patch for this. There is a problem with the installer but this patch gets ride of that folder coming up

I had the same thing and the only way to prevent that from happening is to go into your registry.
Go to >Start >Run >regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >software
>microsoft >Windows >CurrentVersion >Run
Just follow that string and once you get inside the "Run", look for the "Palm MultiUser Config" and delete its contents or the whole string. I just deleted its contents. You'll also notice the other programs that start and settles in the taskbar when XP is started and you can delete those also if you wish to. You're not deleting the programs , you're just telling them not to start when not needed.
You have to be very careful when you do this because if you make a mistake, you can render your OS and computer useless.
When you're done, reboot and see if the folder starts up again. Let me know how you did.

You should also be able to use MSCONFIG to do the same thing.

Or you could just load the patch from Sony and let it take of it. Either way, it is annoying!
