View Full Version : Are you guys all tech nuts?

I'm just wondering. Seems like a lot of you have like 4 or 5 PDA's in your list.

I'm just wondering, What the hell does one person need multiple PDA's for? Especially older ones?

How often do you upgrade, do you always have to have the latest and greatest?

I start to like my electronics more and more as time goes on. I still have my Palm V that I'm going to give to my buddy, but the fact that it has worked for over 4 years really puts a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.

Just thought I'd share that...

You multi-Clie people are nerdddddds hahaha

As you can see from the pic, im not all pdas, im into cars to. That beauty is mine.

i dont own all the pdas listed its just a timeline of what PDAs ive owned in the past, i have only owned one PDA at a time i always sell it before i upgrade.

Dang, 5 in one year!? That's crazy. Let me ask you, do you actually use the things or do you just play with them and reconfigure them?

Hm... I bet my wheels can smoke yours :D

i do things with 'em.

My 1955 chevy nomad (custom everything) has a near 400 hp (375-390hp) v8 with 360 lbft of torque. drag race exauhst, bf goodrich gforce t/a tires with 17 in. boyd coddington wheels. 12 inch disks on all 4s. pioneer 2800 watt stereo with 2 amps and 10.5 inch woofer. Custom intake manifolds, hand built and tuned engine. This mother will do 0-60 in under 7 seconds (6.4-6.8) and all of that from a 49 year old car that weighs over 3000 lbs. Burn outs on command and the exauhst sound of a lamborghini merceilago. (no kidding, it sounds almost the same)
one fast shaggin' wagin'. My porsche c4s can do even better.

You HAVE GOT to work for BestBuy or something...you're bouncing around from forum to forum slagging ClieSource members, and always hiding behind the veil of 'Unregistered'...MODS..could you possibly ban this guys IP from here. He is not at all helping any of us in any constructive way.

no, simply trying to point that illegal (and yes, it is illegal) posting should not be tolarated. there should not be a "blind eye" for this. no, i don't work for BB. BUT, i don't condone this type of activity. few things work me up more than this. i work hard for my money and buy my PDA's. i don't like people who abuse the system. it is that simple. i want to highlight this and get people to stop.

If you are sincere, and buy and like and use your PDA's..REGISTER and become a known member of this community. If you don't - STOP POSTING and leave. Why are you so reluctant to show yourself??

Im a tech nut (I own and operate a computer business) plus I am a health care professional.

I purchased my TJ35 in November and so far I have bought a new PDA every year for the last several years. My last three PDA's were Clies. I had a T415 which I sold to a doctor I work with , a 615 that I sold to another co-worker. Before that I had a NEC Mobile PRo that I gave to my son, a Palm VIIx that I gave to my brother in law and a Compaq Aero 2130 that I gave to my son this past weekend.

I just recently broke the annual upgrade trend though when one of my computer customers traded me a Dell Axim X5 with a 256mb SD Card and a Linksys wifi CF card for a $150.00 labor credit...not a bad deal. I use the Clie, which is still my favorite, for my everyday PDA needs, plus I think it sounds and works better as an mp3 player than the Dell. The Dell is my "test PDA" I use it to read ebooks and do quick net searches when I dont want to boot up my laptop. I have a shared drive on my PC that has an ebook folder and music folder and I use Resco explorer to browse to that folder and pull up ebooks (mostly converted tech references) or listen to my music collection. It's kind of like having a 40 gig Ipod that I can read from too as long as I'm within wifi range.

I could have put a 502 ci 500 hp engine, but that would eat far too much gas. 5-8 mpg. Now i have 12-17 est.

i'm a student but i do work in the IT department at my school's library. i also build PCs and do tech consulting on the side.

i have had a PDA for the last 4 years and had upgraded about once a year (one year i had three different PDA's due to loss and a trade). i like to keep up with current technology but also stay within my budget. i think that my NX60 will be around for a while as i don't see any PDA on the horizon that can compete with its feature set.

I don`t understand why people change so offen. geek ok fine, but come on there is a limit. I living in Japan with all the HIGH goodies I burnt out of the phase a little while back. I had eveything new! But now I smarted up! I don`t buy for the sake of having the best of rught not. I wait until the prices drop and say 1/3 or more then buy it! as for this round of PDA device I am waiting untilk the 6 OS is out. I don`t want to get caught between OS versions.

I'm half Japanese and lived my life in Japan (until I came to the US for college). So I suppose you could say that I have that Japanese love for gadgetry and can't wait to go back so I can be on the forefront of everything that is tech. That love for gadgetry fueled my desire to pursue a degree in computer engineering, which I'm doing now.

I love and need technology, and i suppose i could buy myself a few clies with the money i have but i hate to spend money, and im always waiting for the next, better model. I have a TG50, a Sony R505 Laptop, and an old IMB aptiva that i keep to store junk on and screw around with.

From 1997-2000 I was pretty into computers. Kept building them and rebuilding, upgrading. My computers spent more time down than working... always fiddling with them. Then I graduated and worked for a semiconductor company. I got sick of computers. I didn't even use my Palm for a few years. Now I'm back in school and computers are part of my everyday life.

I didn't use a PDA for the first year of my master's degree and I was always very unorganized. This Clie is my 3rd PDA ever. I sold my first Palm Pro to a friend for 90$ back in the day and yesterday I shipped my Palm V to another friend as a surprise gift!

I bought the NX73V because it had everything I needed. But now that the TH55 is out, it's slim, has a camera, mp3 ... that's all i need. I was thinking about upgrading. Then I realized there was no keyboard! hahahah

I am not a tech nut...I was once a tech idiot in fact. But I have grown to become a gadget freak somehow. So far I have 2 PDAs in my possession, if the SJ30 passed on to my bf is still considered mine. :p

Yes, I would also like to know why would ppl need need multiple PDAs for. I would prefer to sell off the older version and buy new ones every time a new one comes along, hahaha! Wishful thinking. Of course if I have tons of money and nowhere to spend it, then I will keep all the PDAs as my collection. :D

Upgrade? U mean actually upgrading the hardwares or buying new handhelds?

"I'm just wondering, What the hell does one person need multiple PDA's for? Especially older ones?"

They work great for testing software. Sometimes software acts differently on an emulator and you have to test it on an actual device. Besides that, just find to have an old unit so one day I can show my kids and say "back in my day we only had 66Mhz and 8MB or RAM on our PDAs."

"How often do you upgrade, do you always have to have the latest and greatest?"

I usually upgrade when a new OS is released or a huge processor upgrade. As for having the latest and greatest, no. In fact I'm running an NX73V, and I bought that only after the price started dropping on them.

"You multi-Clie people are nerdddddds hahaha"

No, I'm a geek, much more then a mere nerd. Nerds only know some of the working on their PDAs, geeks know every in and out:-)

Yep, guilty. I am a tech nut but I do not own more than 1 PDA at a time.

The TH5x/T3/Treo6xx will probably change this but the trusty 665C will remain for running older applications, reading, testing software, etc.

Joined ClieSource to get more experience from long time owners (2+ years). HRCaptDM is the best thing so far.

So far everything has been positive.

Man that would be cool if they developed a one-hand typing keyboard with some pressure sensors on the back of the tablet form PDA... I mean, there are only 26 letters of the alphabet and since you could use 4 fingers, you'd be able to represent hm...
2+4+8+16 = 30 characters if you could learn which ones to press.
