I saw a hack, some time back, for OS4 devices, that lets you enter the password but masks it. Meaning it turns it into "****" characters. I dont know if it was freeware, but I am sure it wasn't commercial. Probably shareware.

Does any one know its name? I think I saw it on freewarepalm.com, but they dont have a search engine:(

Thanks guys and gals,

Abid

I know that "Strip", which is a freeware utility to save passwords, has a check box that will toggle between having the characters show normally or as "*".  But that's for the main password to get into this application.  It's a pretty good way to have sensitive information safely on your PDA.  Here's a link:

Even though this isn't what I was looking for, this is a very useful program!

I wonder why I didn't know of it:?

Thanks a lot,

Abid

My friend said that there was a program that made your Clie look like a thumbprint scanner, and then to get into the Clie you had to just push some buttons... ie. it was a hoax. Anyone have that?!? :D

Does this not let you have your password masked for entering in after the system lockout?

It does seem kind of stupid that the password isnt masked, as when you turn it on in front of freinds you have to either let them see the password, or turn away and look pretty stupid.

I'm currently using GridLock, but I know of the hack you mean, but I can't remember what it's called either :/

Best bet is to trawl through freewarepalm.com's Hacks section - I'm sure it's in there someplace...!

donoman: <http://www.headrush.net/palm/thumbscan/> but as said, its not a real security app & by memory you need a hack to make it come on when you power on the PDA http://www.headrush.net/palm/thumbscan/one.gif

For storing passwords I use the freeware SecureIt <http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/secureit.shtml> but Strip looks as good.

PS: To search freeware palm (or anywhere) use google with site search: eg password mask site:freewarepalm.com brings up <http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=password+mask+site%3Afreewarepalm.com>
