I bought a NX70V last year and have some power problems with it. I am lucky to buy their TAP program and tried to use it to trade-up to the lastest NZ-90 Model yesteray.

However, the sale told me that I can trade up to the new model ONLY if they don't have any NX-70V in stock. (Well, when I bought this program, they told me the different thing!!)

Is that usual for you guys? I saw many people here with TAP program can trade up the machine easily withnot any problem. They can walk in and out very happy within 1 or 2 hours.

But the sales keep my machine and told me that they will inspect the machine with 48 hours, if I got approved, then I will be given a compusa gift card. If then, I will be very happy.

If not, who knows what will happen then.....Is there anyone who has this kind of experience with CompUSA before?

Their policy is quite simple...this is how it was explained to me night before last:

You get 1 replacement unit during the duration of your 2 year contract. This can be used for ANY reason whatsoever...including broken screen.

If it is an item they still sell, you get the same model.

If it is not, they will diagnose whether they can fix it (usually they cannot...unless it's a bogus 'break') and then you will get in store credit for the full retail price of the unit at the time they last sold it (ie, if they went on clearance for 600$ and then they stopped stocking the unit, you get 600$ credit)

Hope this helps...

I also have the compusa tap program and have used it before...basically it allows for a one-time REPLACEMENT of your palm...obviously since the NX70 is still available...if you have a problem with it then they will give you another NX70 to replace it....if it were not available then they would give you the equivalent or next best thing.... the second option is store credit...which would then mean you would pay the difference and could then get the NZ90...that is how their plan works...and i'm not sure about others but i think the people you are referring to had their pda discontinued or the like so were able to get better ones

In my scenario I got lucky...I had the N610 (feels like a dinosaur to all the new ones sony has now) and got the compusa Tap plan...my N610 was replaced and discontinued by the T615 which was replaced by the T665 which was then sorta replaced by the NR60/70 which was then replaced by the NX60/70....so when i brought mine in...they had to give an "equivalent or better one" so I got really really lucky...they were out of the NX60 and SJ30 (which would be my equivalent) and were out of the T665 which have been discontinued as well as the NR60/70 which were discontinued...so they gave me thechoice of tungsten TT or NX70 (value 600) for my N610 (value 250 at the time i bought it)....not a bad trade off, huh?

I chose the NX70...and the icing on the cake was that they offered me the $99 dollar Compusa TAP plan on the value of the newer NX70...so I have 2 yrs in which i can trade it in for a pda "equivalent or better" then my now brand spanking new NX70....(i've had it for 2 weeks now... The kicker
:D and still waiting for them to call me saying they made a mistake...anyways that's my experience with it)

:D

so if i were you unless the problem was really bothersome...then I would wait...I don't think the NX70 will be discontinued anytime soon...but it definitely is nice to have the TAP plan just in case something happens...I am assuming you just got the pda...I figure by the end of the year with sony's pace...the NX will be replaced and then you should trade in your pda....my thoughts

"sony's fast pace innovation can hurt ya or help ya...in my case it helped me"
