Apparently (judging by the poll) that the Zlauncher is the favored launcher. Does it support the UX and does anyone reccomend an alternate launcher?

I used to like SilverScreen, but not anymore. It doesn't work well with the UX50 -- it can't handle the Internal Media, which leads to problems (can't launch programs from it), and the landscape mode is only partially supported. Writing PocketSensei about this, I got a reply that basically stated that yes, I'm right, and they won't do anything about not supporting the Internal Media, as they're waiting to see what the standards will be in the future. So I'd recommend that you stay clear of SilverScreen. ZLauncher? Why not?

Will this ones 4 me its simple and does what it should. The main thiig i lke is the almost full date book preview you can run on the main screen. Take a look you can download a 30 day demo. Simple but practical.

I agree! Have a good look at AppShelf which is designed for the UX50 and OS5. The whole launcher can be managed with keyboard shortcuts. If you get lost, there are a few threads in the 'Launcher' section to help you out.

ZLauncher does support UX50 (it landscapes to 480x320 very nicely without the need of codediver). On the other hand ZLauncher has been reported
being a bit buggy - for example, if you use the data import/export to
move data to the internal media, then Zlauncher leads to crash (soft
reset required).
In spite of this, Zlauncher is actually a pretty nice piece of software.

I'm a huge fan of ZLauncher. It pretty much never crashes on me, but apparently that's not true for all users. I use a theme that uses icons from OS X that makes me fell right at home with my UX50.

I can't stand paying for a launcher -- I use CRSLauncher.

AppShelf (http://www.excite.co.jp/world/url/body?wb_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jade.dti.ne.jp%2F%257Eimazeki%2Fpalm%2FAPsh%2Findex.html&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2) is tailored around the operation of the UX. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Here is my page (http://www.kellyedwards.com/comet.htm) that attempts to clarify things a bit.

Hey Macstibs, can you hook me up with your icons? I have a remix combining, OS5, Palm and OS X (found in the downloads of this site).

I use Launcher X and it works great... Not as pretty as the 3d launcher that comes with the UX, but much easier to catagorize icons... Also takes advantage of the full landscape screen...

I vote for AppShelf. Fast, nice and functional. Also, you can see that it was designed for the UX50. Operation with the keyboard is terrific. Calendar and to do integration is also a pretty nice feature.

And most important: it is well coded, I have experienced *zero* crashes.

One problem: the english translation is not that good ;-) sometimes hard to understand, but when everything is setup, you're ready to go.

I use LauncherX. For me is the best.

How does one get AppShelf to come up as the default launcher instead of the default that ships with the UX-50? I can get AppShelf to launch if I tap it but if I tap Home or turn the unit off and back on later, the default launcher comes up. Is there a way to modify this behaviour?

Thanks -

matt

There is a button you check in the options to assign it to the home key. That is what makes it the default launcher.

Go to Options/Basic and tick AppShelf is assigned to a home.
For a quick set up, tick everything on Basic and Operate Settings except:
Basic Setting page 1 item 6
Basic Setting page 2 item 4
Read the AppShelf threads in the Launcher section.
