View Full Version : Address book
Does anyone else think it is completely stupid to assign a small pic in the address book when it could do 480x320 (on the NX). Seems like a huge shortcoming. Does anyone know of any replacement apps which solve this? perferably free

No... otherwise you could easily eat up your memory with address book pictures. I don't use this feature, but if I did, I wouldn't want huge pictures of my business contacts (for example). Just my .02.
The pictures are on the memory stick anyway and it would be useful to have fullscreen pics (cause i dont put ugly ppls pics on). Any hacks/free programs that can do this?
does anywone want to answer?

Unless you are using PIDirect or MSMount, the address book only supports pics in RAM.
To me, it's only a cute little feature that I tried a couple of times and ended up not using.
Personally, I would prefer to have that empty space back instead of the picture placeholder, when in edit mode.

I've been searching for an app that does this since I bought my NR70V over the summer, and have yet to find anything that does a better job than the built in address book app (in other words, nothing that will read pics from the MS).
I've e-mailed Red Mercury (the makers of Acid Image) requesting that they make an app to access the address book and pics stored on an MS, but there response didn't seem particularly enthusiastic. Maybe we could start an e-mail campaign, encouraging Red Mercury and Splash Data to make a suitable address book replacement. Couldn't hurt anything.

What's the issue? That you can't see pics on the MS? Or, is it that the Sony address book app can't view 480x320 pics when you tap on the thumbnail?
Rolando
if u wanted a smaller pic u should assign a smaller one but they shouldnt be shurnk down from 320x480 IMO

Not that I can help, but since you don't ever explain anything or elaborate on the issue, I'm still curious.
What happens when you tap on the thumbnail? Is the picture that appears 320x480, 320x320, etc. Does it get cropped down to 320x320, proportionally shrunk, etc.?
I only have a 320x320 screen, so they show as 320x320 on mine.
Rolando
I load a 320x480 pic and it shrinks it to 112x160, if i load a 640x480 pic it skrinks it to 160x112 and if i use a 112x160 pic it is the same size. This is when the images open in a 'new' screen.
Smaller pics and no graphics display on the audioplayer, isnt software supposed to get more/better features in upgrades?
