Did you look in the wireless forum, maybe there is something that can help in the meantime. Is it a GSM phone?

Actually its not a GSM phone.
Its a GAIT phone there a difference.
This is the way Cingular is going to beta there conversion from there TDMA to a GSM network.
I know that this is there plan because upon purchasing this phone they ceased to sell it to the public due to the issues that I and a few managers were experiencing
with the GAIT system in my area.
The issues still have not been totally addressed since August.
They actually sold me the phone in August and I have been dealing with there advice technical team, and GAIT PM, to address all, and I mean "all" the issues.
I like Cingular so I will not go into the issues...
The retrofit of there towers to GSM has not been as successful as they would have wanted and the fact that they are attempting to absorb a few of T Mobiles tower
will surly not help there cause.
Back to the 6340...
The GAIT phone is a phone that was designed by Nokia for Cingular so that when you are in a GSM, or T Mobile area the phone will switch to use to GSM
technologies.
When traveling in a TDMA network the phone is supposed to seek out the TDMA tower hence you will never be out of touch, or you should always have the ability
to generate a call.
AGAIN this is what the phone is supposed to do...
The word "NOT" would be a accurate word to describe what is happening.
That is all I will say on the GAIT phone
Hope this was informative and helps anyone who needed info on it.
There are areas where the GAIT phone will work flawlessly, but the phones design was so that it would work everywhere.
I have been on and worked with Cingular for years, and they have turned me onto the level 2 and 3 technicians of Nokia so this hopefully will be addressed shortly
but by the time it is I think they will have already forced all there customers to purchase new GSM phones due to there migration over to the GSM technology.

Are the issues with the 6340 straightened out yet? I was looking to get 1 to work with my 665 and want to know if I am going down the wrong hole or not?
