I'm using palm for almost 6 yrs, and I use it mainly for dropping memos.

Since I got many many memos in my palm, I want to put them into different categories so that I can find my notes quickly.

However, there is a limitation of max 16 categories in my palm (including the "unfiled" category which cannot be renamed).

I just want to know, if the most recent version of PalmOS support more than 16 categories.

thx
: )

Nope and yep. OS5 doesn't. OS6 will, but even though it's "out," there aren't any machines out yet running it. If the 16 category limit is important to you, wait two or three months to see what's new on the field.

One exception - there are some rumors that PalmOne will be offering upgrades to certain devices of theirs, like the T3.

Nope, It's a O/S Limitation. It was in the older versions of PalmOS probably because of the limited memory they had.

There are ways to work around the 15 category limitation.  Here is a link that talks about ways to greatly increase the categories in the addressbook:

http://www.palmpower.com/issues/issue200109/addressbook001.html

It cheats by using the "find" feature, and you put unique text in a special field.  It seems to me you can do the same thing as the 2nd line in each memo, and using something like a "&"before the categories would work.  But it depends on how you want to get to the memos as to if this will work well enough.

Best of luck!
