Me too.... I have an SJ30.

All I see in SJ33 is a repackaged T665c with a SLIGHTLY better screen than the SJ30 (comparable to the NX, with no shadowing) and a long battery life. Seems like a worthwhile upgrade.

In the meantime, anyone want an SJ30 for $200?? :D

In excellent condition...

The only apparent difference between the two is the T665C has the enhanced IR port while the SJ33 does not. Another big difference is the T665C has a metal case and the SJ33 a plastic one. Also, you can get the T665C for about $250 or less from some places as well, so if you like the T series form factor better get the T665C while you can.

i'm grabbing the sj33 right away... the T665 is a battery slugging business box. i don't understand why some people say metal is so much more desirable than plastic. my fancy metal cell phone has a big honkin' dent in it.

i'd say the SJ33 has twice the style and twice the battery as the T665... but it's all subjective.

I 'd say the enhanced IR port and the metal case are desirable. 'cause I never try to use a such device that can control so many thing, maybe that would be fun. Plastic is a problem , metal case makes my CLIE perfect for a considerable long time .... plastic could be easily scraped.

Basically, both those models had been introduced last summer and it was time to update them. As people have pointed out, the SJ33 is functionally quite close to the T665C but the appearance is very different. Plus, the SJ33 has a few improvements over the T665C, like a longer battery life.

One of the things you have to accept is that any handheld you buy will be replaced with something better in a few months. That's just the way this business works. If you had waited and bought a SJ33, in a few months Sony will introduce something even better.

It isn't just Sony. Looks like Palm will introduce a new high-end model soon, which doesn't thrill the people who bought a Tungsten T. Toshiba introduced the e330 in October, and it will probably release the e350 next month, which will cost $50 less.

gtusiwei, I feel the same way you do. I got my SJ30 not even a month ago and now Sony releases the SJ33. I would've gone for the t665c, if the battery life was better.

Anyone want a SJ30 with an all black Sena case and 128MB memory stick for $250? I have all the original packaging and plastic wrappers and stuff that came with the SJ30. The memory stick has it's own little plastic case as well. All of this is in excellent / new condition.

is the speaker the same on the SJ33 as it is on the T665, loud, and able to play polyphonic sounds?

Same speaker.

Overall, the SJ33 has twice the power of the T665, and much better packaging. Regarding the T665, the buttons on the are absolutely unacceptable to me, and the battery life is poor. The SJ33 has very nice styling, and personally I like the flip cover, being a long time Visor Edge user - no need to purchase one aftermarket. I'll be upgrading my SJ30 to the SJ33 in a week.

Correction: the T665 has the same 66 MHz CPU as the SJ33 i.e. faster than the SJ30's 33 MHz CPU.

Does the sj33's plastic face flip all the way to the back? if it doesn't i think it would be very uncomfortable to hold. the size of the sj is very appealing as opposed to the t665c (which I just bought a month ago), but the big difference is the IR port. if the sj33 had the enhanced IR port I'd pick it up today. you don't know what fun is until you've shut off the TV in a crowded bar on a saturday night and watched all the sports fans get their panties in a bunch.

I think that battery life outweighs the enhanced IR port. I don't want to carry cradles or chargers when using a T665c....

But hey, just an opinion.

Do you all think it worthwhile to upgrade my sj30 to sj33?

My sj30 is so new, but after using it I am sure its 33MHZ CPU and low-volume Sound is extremely disappointing.

T665C has short battery life and does not have a slim packaging.

Sj33 seems to be pecfect , comparing to T665C, it doesn't have the enhanced IR.

Sony is surely able to make a perfect CLIE, but it seem to conside its business benefit more important. I hope Sony can really do some good for consumers. I mean Sony should release a CLIE with high-speed CPU (palm4.1 device at least with a 66MHZ CPU), sound chip like T665C, Enhanced IR port, long-life bettery (anyway as a PALM that's important), Slim style(like SL/SJ), VG (that's exciting to be seen in a SL/T, but not in a NR/NX), also optional BlueT/GPS...

I don't want to change PDA frequently. If a Clie like that could be released, I will buy and keep it.

No one doubt Sony is a Dream Maker, but I hope Sony can really satisfy the Dreamer.

does the sj33 look cheaper, being plastic compared to the t665?

That depends on your interpretation of style. I consider the buttons on th T665 the cheapest design ever! I think the overall design of the SJ33 is great, particularly with the attached translucent cover.

I think the T665 looks elegant with it's aluminum metal covering and chrome accents. I truly don't mind the buttons, which I barely use anyways.

Currently i'm a happy owner of an T675C, the european version of the T665C.
I like it's sleek design, and as a former Palm IIIC owner i'm happy about the jog-wheel while reading e-books, but i would like to meet the designer, who made those buttons. ( Preferably at nighttime in a park, with a BIIG cudgel ;) )
