View Full Version : Help! Can't Play MP3 Files on NX70V

Background:
- Used to be able to play MP3 files downloaded off of the web.
- Using the MS Import utility to transfer files to my Sony 128MB MS.
- MP3 files play fine on my PC and portable MP3 player.
- Using Clie NX70V's default Audio Player
- Palm OS 5.0

Problem:
When I click on the MP3 file on my Clie, I get the message,
"This track is unavailable for one of the following reasons: The MS media is write-protected or does not support copyright control, or the track file is corrupted."

I know that reasons 1 and 3 are not the culprits (1) because I don't have my MS locked (if that's what that error msg. means) and (2) I can play the same track file on other sources.

Only remaining reason could be #2... does not suppport copyright control... I don't know what the heck this means.

I've read a gazillion posts on the MP3 subject so far but none of them address my specific problem... or so I think.

Could someone out there shed some light on this issue? I'm running out of ideas. Thanks!

try to rencode using cdex at 128kbps and you should be able to play it.

It's a simple one ;) like many Sony products the NX70 will play only MP3 with 44.1kHz sampling and NO variable bit rate. Aside from that bit rates from 32-192 have been played on mine.

You can re-encode using the excellent free RazorLAME (Google for it).

;) I have an SJ22, I experiencec the same thing, here is the solution, insteat of using the 128MB memory stick colored "purple", you have to use the"white colored 128MB memor stick, and it worked ok!
