Hi,
After 6 months of problem free usage of a Euro NX73 I suddenly found myself with a problem. Most resets (with seem to be getting more frequent) seem to cause a reset loop that can only be corrected by a hard reset, followed by a restore from MS.
I was initally blaming verichat, as it seems to cause a prolem when it can't connect, but I'm beginning to think it could be something else. The error message I get mentions an 'invalid card'.

Anyone have a simialr problem and can point me in the right direction or should I just take this as an opportunity to rebuild from scratch?

Running:
Zlauncher
Jackflash
Verichat
snappermail
splashphoto
datebk5
contacts5.3
uninstall manager 2.49
crash
palmary clock

Any advise would be welcome and, yes I have read the threads thrown up by a search for 'reset loop'

Thanks

You might try installing individual apps instead of restoring from MS backup.
Good Luck!

Are you sure you are putting the card into the slot correctly? Maybe it isn't fitting in (from wear) quite right, or you aren't inserting it all the way. Try a new card as well as the other suggestion. Sometimes a worn card can be a real gremlin when it comes to clies. :)

I experienced the same with my NX60 last spring. Reviewing your list of apps, the only two we have in common are JackFlash and Snappermail (at that time I was using a Snappermail demo). The problem usually occured if while I listened to MP3 off of a 512MB CF card (utilizing eruware's driver).

My reset loop included the screen of my PDA flashing on-and-off - Scary! I clean installed all apps and haven't had any trouble since.

Fortunately you dont have to do a hard Reset in NX73/NX80. After a soft Reset tap Memory Stick which wil open Media info -> click a File Manager -> Remove the files in the Ram you think are the culprits.

This worked for me especially when I used alpha or beta versions osf software and my clie will go in infinite reset cycle and I did not want to lose my Data with a hard reset.

Probably try to rename the Launcher-dir if it happens next time and see if the loop reoccurs.

Did you try to pull out the MS during the loop? If so, did the loop still happen?

I just had the Reset-Loop-Of-Death on my NX80V a week ago myself...pretty mad because I tried to reinstall my backup using BackupBuddy. Even after I restored everything, and tried to use my Clie again, it just kept crashing. Rather than throw my Clie on the ground (which I didn't do), I started from the ground up. I figure that way, it should clear things up. It worked for me...maybe you should try that.

When the frequency of resets increases, I would suspect a software corruption. Often, starting from scratch is the best method to recovery. If there is a corrupt file(s) in your backup set on the MS or PC and you do a hard reset, you are just reintroducing the problem back into your handheld when you do a recovery sync or restore. My advice is to perform the hard reset and reload apps, a few at a time, test, and repeat.

If you do put something into Flash with JF and your system rejects it, you may experience the looping reset problem. The JF literature mentions a reset procedure that may break the loop so you can get in and remove the offending program. If you move several things at one to Flash it is pretty hard to identify the culprit. I have tried to break a reset loop per the JF manual, but it did not work on my NX80.

Good advice breakfastchef...thanks. After my recover, I made a clean backup up my system and saved a copy on my computer using BackupBuddy on my laptop. I'll definitely keep the JF problem in mind...I just got the program too. Hopefully I won't have many problems with it.

SplashPhoto and JackFlash don't tango easily! Leave Splash in RAM.
