View Full Version : Should I wait?

I want to get a T665c.

Thing is, should I wait? I hear people saying Sony is realesing new models very soon. I for one would LOVE a t665c with Virtual Graffiti. OS5 or bluetooth would be great, but just Virtual Graffiti would be enough for me.

Also it would be good if it supported the new memory stick formats.

Anyways... should I wait? Anyone think they will come out with a t665c like device anytime soon?

Thank you for your replies.

If you are really wanting a 665 you should get it now. Sony moves PDAs in and out so quickly you will miss it if you don't. I can't say if they have a 665-like device coming out. I don't keep up with too much of that since I am currently happy with what I have. The 665 has a great form factor and right now the deals on them are excellent.

On the other hand, if you are the type that MUST have the latest and greatest....wait a little while. :)

Forget waiting. I just went from a T615 to an NX70. If I were to wait it could be forever. From the rumors it looks like the new T only has a keyboard and no grafitti.

It looks like you want OS 5, Bluetooth and VG...well then there is the current NZ that will take care of that. Skip the Bluetooth and then you basically have the NX...go from there:)

Well, the TG50 is seems to me to be well worth the wait. OS5, Bluetooth, much faster processor, voice recorder, built-in keyboard, and even thinner than the 665. It's definitely an improvement over the already excellent T665C.

Well, thanks for the replies.

I like the T665c, but what I REALLY want is Virtual Graffiti.

I also want OS5 but I do not excpect them to get that in a T665C form yet.

If the TG50 has OS5, maybe, MAYBE I would get that.

I have a T665C and will upgrade the day a non-clamshell OS5 VG device is released (without GPS related stuff like the Garmin). I think that Sony will be releasing something like this sometime this year. Until then, I enjoy my 665 to death. 3 128 MS for music, apps, etc ...

The one thing I will HATE about OS5 is the fact that PiDirect II doesn't work with it. I have about 60 MB of programs on my app stick that will either have to use PowerRun or rely on the OS VFS support. I hear that access time is faster with the NX, etc ... so I suppose it won't be too big of a deal, especially if the MS pro sticks are as fast as promised.

If you need a Palm OS device right now, the 665 is hard to beat for size and functionality vs. price.

Well today's your luck day my friend. The TG-50 does have Palm OS 5 according to the manual (available from a link in the General forum)

I think the TG-50 really looks good and will be wasting my well earned pounds when they get released in th UK

My dream device is what the TG50 has, but with VG (and an SD card instead of Memory Stick, but that will never happen). If you currently have a PDA and can wait I would about 2 months and then decide.

I agree with timewaster. if you have a PDA, you might want to wait to see what Sony releases after the TG50.

It appears that we are in a post-grafitti shakedown period. Until Palm gets the new Jot-based system implemented, I suspect the new Palm OS handhelds (like the TG50 and the Tungsten W) are going to follow the Treo lead and go with keyboards and no grafitti area. But, I would expect the next wave to include the Jot alternative to grafitti with a choice between keyboard or grafitti. Whether it will be a virtual grafitti area as on the NV/NX series, I don't know, but certainly hope so.

If you don't have a PDA, then I would say you might as well grab the TG50. You've got OS 5, Bluetooth, a great screen, and all the advantages of the T series form factor (including a Stowaway keyboard if, like me, you use your PDA as a laptop replacement; of course, not 100% sure the drivers for it are OS5 ready). Unless, of course, you want a camera too. Then, I would go for the NX or NZ.

Didn't excpect so many responses, thanks.

I saw the manual for the TG50, and it looks like OS5. If the screen is at least not smaller (but I really want bigger) then the T665c, then I might get it.

I don't need a flip cover but I could live with it. But if it doesn't fold over the whole way It would really bother me. I don't want it sticking out.

All I want is a T665c device with OS5 and Virtual Graffiti, or a bigger screen. AM I ASKING TOO MUCH SONY?! ;)

Access is really fast. I can open a 500+kb calculator faster on my NX with powerrun than on my 615 with PiDirect.:)
