NX73V/E IBM Microdrive and MP3

Does anyone know of a way to store and play MP3 files on an IBm 1GB Microdrive fitted to a Sony Clie NX73V/E

Just go to the Compact Flash Forum, and download the Audio Player for playing the MP3 from the Card,

Thanks, I downloaded the Audiopalyer, Movieplayer and Camera updates. Now all three application fail.

The SonyMMUtilLib.prc file in the Audioplayer update fails to sync as it's in use.

Any ideas, should I do a hard reset and just stick to memory cards?

As I understand it, the NX series doesn't provide enough power to the card to allow you to write to a microdrive, but you can read from one.

but remember the IBM microdrive is read only by the CF driver.....

I've doen the hardreset and got back to a clean build.

I have just downloaded Athena CF from www.athenaamerica.com as this seems to do everything I want it to do. I should have the activation key in two hours. It's 1am here and it's snowing so I think I try it in the morning. Anyone else used it?

$27!?? Wow. I can do everything that they charge for on my NX80V for free with the UX's apps.

If your card is a CompactFlash Storage Card, and not a hard-disk based "microdrive" CF card, then the answer is almost certainly Yes. The vast majority of CF cards work with the Athena CF Enabler. (Note that, though we don't officially support the hard-disk based microdrives yet, many of our customers have told us the microdrive CF cards work fine already¨Din Read-Only mode. We are working to provide support for this type of storage product, and will announce it when we have satisfied ourselves that we can properly support the microdrive line of CF cards.)

you can store & play mp3's for free with the UX apps, as you have stated that was your original intention. If you like...I will try and extract them from my NX80 and email them to ya.
