Hello,

Just wondering if anyone could help me with this dilemma? I have copied my SP recorded WAV files off of my NX 60 to my PC but I can't convert the Clie WAV files to MP3 format. It says they are not standard Windoh's WAV files. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I think dBPowerAmp can convert it.

Anyway, you can use window's sound recorder to convert it into PCM 8-bit. Then you can continue from there.

But even though I have converted it, it still seems Windohs is having a hard time to recognize the format. I still can't seem to get my MP3 software to convert the WAV into MP3 because of the "unknown format." :(

I usually use itunes on a Mac to do this. Don't know if you want that program for your Wintel machine...

or Quicktime Pro *must pay for this ability* is the other program that may help (I do this all the time).

I checked here (http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-index.pl) because I remembered there was an update but it is not for SP recorded sounds but LP sounds.

What is the process with QT Pro?

I have it and would like to use it for this as well.

Thanks, Jay

just figured it out!

use the import feature under FILE.

in the TYPE dropdown choose audio, then save (check the tick box to make the file inclusive).

more later

ok, once this is done use CDex to convert the new wave to mp3. Now dump it back to the clie in Audioplayer.

Done!

Hmmm I can easily open the clie sound file, then EXPORT it as an AIFF file (or Wave) and then use another program to conver it to mp3 (like I said, I usually use itunes for this); couldn't you also use musicmatch, etc.?

Bobenis :

Can you play the SP wave file in the "windows sound recorder" ? It should be able to. If it does not, then you might have to load some windows update. (not sure though)

In my case, I can play the SP wave file in the sound recorder. Click on file menu->properties and there's the little "convert now" button in it. You can convert it into one of any PCM 8-bit (and save it) and most software should work with it now.

In the case of unpatched LP, it would open but not play and you cannot convert.

If it still does not work, please explain step-by-step what you did.

I am using MP3 Producer v2.27 to convert the WAV's into MP3's. It still says, after I have converted with the sound recorder, that the file type is not recognized? Somehow the way the Clie writes the SP sound file, it makes it hard for othr software to read it? I will try OT Pro again and see what happens.

Hmm .. I think the problem is with your MP3 converter. I use Electronic Cosmo's MPEG Suite, and I can also use dBPowerAmp.

In fact, after conversion by the sound recorder, it shouldn't be the clie's problem now, should it?

Well, in theory this is true but if the file coming from the Clie is whacked in the first place, the sound recorder can play it and therefore still convert it. That does change the bit rate but not necessarily the file composition that it was in the first place. Its like taking a hotdog and cutting it into little pieces, it looks different but still it is a hotdog, ya know? LOL...
