Just saw this at Comp-U-Plus.com. Price is after rebate. However, I have no idea about the reputation of this website. The price is amazing though!

"Sony Color CLIE Handheld PEG-NX80V Clie Personal Entertainment Organizer with 1.3 MegaPixel Camera and MP3 Player - Silver Finish
Your cost only $289 after $50.00 rebate! Rebate expires 01/31/2004."

Anyone else buy something from them? I'm considering going through them for this deal. The other option is paying a little bit more at compusa.

how much more...do they have it?

I believe compusa has it for $388, but they won't let you check online if it's available in your local store for some reason - I suppose you could call but I highly doubt they'd even answer your question. It'd be faster to go down there yourself and see if it's instock.

Hi!

My first post to the forum! Yesterday, I ordered an NX80v from newegg. I saw the lower price on Comp-U-Plus.com, but I've never ordered from them, and I saw some vendor reviews that complained about slow shipment.... I'm sure they aren't that bad...

One little thing to note. It looks like they changed it, but newegg had an instant rebate of $25 on the PEGA-GC10 and a combo discount of $10 when purchased with the nx80v. :) So basically I got a $5 discount and the game controller for free!!! Any recommendation on good games? I also ordered a 512 Lexar Pro MS. Total bill was $570. I may have been able to do better elsewhere, but I love newegg.

Now if only Fedex Saver could be faster!!!!

I've bought networkng gear from them (comp-u-plus) in the past, everything arrived timely and everything still works.

I also bought a NX80 earlier this month for $320, now I'm licking myself for not waiting!

I'm thinking about ordering from them, but I'm concerned that it may not ship by Thursday - therefore not allowing me to use the rebate. I guess even if I don't get the rebate, their price is still lower than most others. It's too bad I don't live in L.A. anymore - ah, fry's how I miss thee.

Doing a little research, compuplus.com seems a little shaddy. Some people have no problems, and a lot of other people go through hell with them - I'm particularly concerned with all the negative feedback I'm reading with returns. Maybe I'm better off paying the extra bucks and getting it from another site.

I used this site for reference:

As often as the price of NX80 goes down I wonder if it would be possible to use one for a month, return it, and get another one right away for cheaper... every month. :)

I purchased an NX73V from them in October and I was very satisfied with them. They shipped Fedex two-day, but I got it overnight. I ordered from them again in November (Clie game controller for $2.99) and got the item in two days.

When I ordered mine on the 3rd(which is when my rebate expired) I got it monday with a receipt dated the 3rd so the receipt will be dated the day you ordered.

i just hope that this incredible droping price will lead to a new clie nx, since i've decided to wait for the new clie instead of buying the nx80v

I've just decided against getting a NX80 from compuplus.com. Instead, I'm looking at newegg.com because I've used them a lot, I know they have excellent service and good shipping time, and also the fact that I can get them to give me a $5 discount for adding the game controller to my order. A nice deal in all if you ask me. Then again, if you don't want to pay the extra bucks for the better service, than I suppose you could just buy the controller with the money you saved and it'll all come out the same.

Now I have 3 decisions to choose from: (1)get NX80 before it's fazed out,
(2) replace the battery on my NX70V because now I take it off the cradle and watch the charge indicator go down quickly (down to 80% in 6 minutes, then even quicker from there, without using WiFi or CF, just having it on) or
(3) wait it out to see what the next generation of clies around the corner offer.
To even complicate it more, I have CompUSA's TAP plan so theoretically with battery like this they may replace it....with what I'm not sure?! I bet they are out of NX73 and perhaps even the 80's.

Man...I paid $420 for mine! I'm still happy with my purchase...it is an NX80V after all. Still, I'm almost tempted myself to buy another one, just in case this one breaks...assuming I have the money (yeah right)!

Looks like a shopping list here:

I bought my Clie NX60 from E-bay for $168.
I bought my Game Controller from internet for $9.99.
I bought my 512MB CF from CompUSA for $99 after $20 rebate which I haven't received yet.
I bought my 128MB MS Circuit City for $29 after $10 rebate which I haven't received yet.

If you want the 1.3 MegaPixel camera, I suggest getting the NX80 now or in the near future. I speculate that we won't see another higher-res camera from Sony in the near future, though, again, that's just my speculation. If you don't need it and don't like the current lineup of Clies on the horizon, then it'd probably be best to replace the battery. I think we all have a good ieda of what's ahead. And if you really wanted to, you could always stick the dead battery back into the clie and claim that it's dead or something to get something that you want in the future (does opening it void any warranty? I don't believe so...I don't recall seeing a sticker in screenshots of the insides).

Good Luck with your dilemna...I'll be making my decision as to whether or not to get a NX80 by the end of the day.

I paid $339 - $50 rebate = $289 from Comp U Plus. Then they dropped the price a dollar to $338 so the final would be $288. No big deal... I guess I'll live.

BTW, Comp U Plus was wonderful to deal with. I got my NX80V in two days, their email updating was timely and reassuring, and who can argue with the price? I'd recommend them, and will buy from them again. But as stated elsewhere, they only ship to confirmed addresses (usually your credit card billing address) only. Keep that in mind.

I'm really glad I waited this long, becasue I too was considering a refurb on ebay for $100 more not too long ago. Then I was going to go with a new Palm T3 for $399. I gotta tell you though, an NX80V for $289 sure made me very happy.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who have made my decision easy, and I'm sure I'll be posting questions at some point in the future.

So good to hear Unregistered (that name needs improvement--try something more personal).
The rebate expired yesterday...wonder if SONY will have another one? I don't think the price could get much cheaper! I will feel better when I get shipping info but I'm sure the weekend just got in the way.

Bleh. Wouldn't you know the timing.
I bought a NX80V in December for $497 (not including rebate).. +$108 for a 256Memory Pro.. and managed to lose it only a week later when I left it on a flight. Of course the airline couldn't find it. Luckily I think travel insurance (might) cover that.. so went ahead and bought a new one from Outpost for $349. Arrived <24 hrs later and hopefully could get the rebate on that as well.

Cool, I just hope they would release the next NX w/ OS6 soon, so I can start waiting a few more months and get it for $289.00:)

Otakud: CompUSA considers their store inventory extremely confidential. I once talked to a manager (he was new) who told me about a cheap laptop he found on the system in New Jersey, so he connected me to that store.

I talked to the manager in New Jersey to order it and he freaked out that I knew about some of the inventory in the store. He wanted to know how I know, from who, when, why, what access I was given to know this information, who I was to know this (it was kind of ridiculous), he even transferred me to corporate after I played dumb (I wasn't going to get the other manager in trouble). I ended up just hanging up and not getting the cheap laptop, but that's why they don't let you see your local stores inventory online.
