Greetings clie' People :
While surfing the web yesterday I came across an ad for a Sony adapter called "Sony MMSAC-FD2MA" that is Basically a floppy disk shell to use as an adapter for Memory Stick...Stick goes inside-Floppy goes in desktop drive...They seem to retail about 55-75 $
Anybody Own one, or Know what the capabilites are??
I'd like to get on as I'm a student who has to Use several different Laptops and desktops at school labs and Libraries and can't always go home to sync My Documents to go... I'd rather just Floppy and Print
Is it Possible??
Cheers,

I own one. Unfortunately it requires a driver to work. So you couldn't use it unless you had the driver on the PC before hand. Also the transfer speed is incredibly slow. But nontheless if it does what you want it to then it is fine.

Thanks!
So You can use it to run doc files or docs to go, as loaded with the Clie' if you install drivers first, it kind of seems to be for cameras/ pictures but clie files seem to synch pertty well in general with the desktop, I Really just want it to make doc transfer to Pc easy away from home, even if I have to install drivers...
Thanks for the clarification, (Hopefully)

I saw one at BBuy today but yikes.. $79 is a bit much for a total lack of speed in transfer so I bought a PNY USB2 unit for $29. What use to take 4 min with my old MStick reader now takes only 25 seconds... cool...

Dont know about those. as far as i know you have to have some kind of converter to convert the file to a doc. Another option to look into would be PrintBoy & Infaready combo, Found here. (http://www.bachmannsoftware.com/infraready.htm) It is also 89.99 and comes with the printing software, but it would get the job done. Of course if the school had an infared printer (doubtful but possible) then you would only need the software. Good luck.
Funky_Buddha,
You will not be able to use the floppy-disk reader thingie without installing software on whatever computer you plan to use, which means 1) you'll have to haul a floppy with the software on it, and 2) you'll have to have write permission on the computer. The latter shouldn't be a problem if the computer belongs to a friend, but could be impossible if you are trying to use computers in labs and such because computers in public-access settings usually do not allow users to mess with them.
The USB reader works nicely but there are two potential problems. The first has to do with the USB ports -- do the computers have them (some labs may be equipped with older computers that work fine but don't have USB ports) and are they accessible. The second is whether the operating system supports the new USB device without installing a driver. Windows 98 required that I install a driver, Windows 2000 Pro did not. Older lab computers may have Windows NT installed on them, and I think you're out of luck with that.
Do some checking, but the USB route is less expensive and has a better chance of success even with the potential problems. It's also MUCH faster. I have one of those floppy reader things for my SmartMedia card and switched to a USB reader and was amazed at the difference.

Well Thanks folks--
Sorry I havent replied in a week...
Im jist getting ready to return to Fry's Electronics(Awesome store by the way) check out http://www.outpost.com/ their web outlet-
but I dont think any of my attempts to print from my Clie' Docs to go schemes are gonna work, because-the doc files on the clie' are Palm files!!! DUH!! sorry for taking up all your time, I would need to convert them back to Doc files- with Uhh, lets see, Documents to go- which I would have to install on the Computer away from Home!!
Back to square one!
Its been wonderful to get your brainstorms & feed back,
If if Im missing any details - Thanks to VW_Bugg BTW for the Infaready_Print tip, but I still think I gotta change the Palm file to Doc property...
Cheers!!

I believe DocstoGo will be updating to allow native doc files to be used with their program.
Funky_buddha,
Have you tried WordSmith? It works with DOC files.
