On attempting to connect to my LAN I get a error box-- in the connection progress box:
ERROR: interface not found (0x121 C)
Any ideas?

Dont take this the wrong way but do you have Wi-Fi on your PC or Network that you are trying to connect to.
This is a UX50 error, my network is working on another UX50 and 4 computers networked on the wi-fi network.

can you give us some more information about your setup? also, is it possible for you to do a hard reset on this ux50 and then try syncing it to another ux50's backups- if it worked you could eliminate the hardware as the problem.
The UX 50 had been working on the network previously. It will not connect to download mail/ connect to the web or to hot sync. Scanning gives the same error message. I tried a hard reset to and a hard reset to another UX 50 back up but no luck. On telling it to connect it says "initializing" the gives the error message. The wireless light blinks but only for a short period of time. Sony is the next call...

I Had sort of the same problem try and change the channel that the ssid or router is emitting try channel 6. Mines worked on channel 11 up untill 3 days ago today tech guy from belkin told me to change the channel to 6 and it works like a charm
I tried changing channers on the router --no success.
The first tech groaned when I told her the CliesSource message board hadn't been able to solve it!
Sony is posting a box for repairs. Thanks for the suggestions though...

I had the same thing on a fob (fresh out the box) UX-50. After rudely being handled by the sony reps in florida (transfered from cue to Q) I finally got a hold of a "Specialist". As I suspected, this was a defective one. After replacing it, the new one worked like a charm.
Soo. Return/exchange/send back your 0x121Clie ASAP!!!
Sony replaced the defective clie (it took 2 weeks-- my ipod from apple took 3 days!)
