If i bought the NX WiFi card, does any basestation work with it for wireless internet, or do i have to buy the $300 set with the card and the WAP.

You need a wireless access point to communicate with the Clie's wireless CF card.

I don't understand the $300.00 set? The Sony WiFi card may NOT be compatible with all wireless access points. Esp. the Linksys 54G

What do you mean by the "$300 set" ??

WL100 is WiFi compliance and so long
as your WAP is also WiFi compliance,
I don't see why they won't interoperate.
That's the essence of WiFi.

FYI, I am using an Aironet AP.

Is the Linksys 54G a 802.11a device ?

It's a 11g device.

BTW, save some money and go look for the Netgear MR814 4-Port Wireless Router. I bought the 54g for $149 (and it's just an access point), then exchanged it for a Netgear MR 814, which was $61 after pricematching! And on top of this that the Netgear was up and running in minutes without any real manual settings, and you've got yourself a stellar deal...

Check here for the router:
