ZLauncher help!!

O.K.....I've browsed the threads...checked iBoars online ZLauncher tutorial...and come to you!

I'm still VERY NEW to customizing my Clie SJ-22 so I apologize in advance for my inept newness.

I'm using the "ML 4 Background Converter" to convert my ".bmp" images I created through Photoshop to ".prc" files. Now the background image converts perfectly, but when I Hotsync the image file is put in my "File Manager" as a database(?) Every other "Theme" I have 'synced has gone directly to "Theme Manager".

So how do I move that image file to my theme manager?

(Image File)-->Theme Manager-->Back Image

OR can I even change JUST the background image?

Nope...haven't picked one up yet. I know I need to for more reasons than I know. (i.e....back-up, etc.)

The ML 4 background convertor is for Mega Launcher, not Z Launcher.

Ah Ha! That explains it! Is there a comperable app for ZLauncher? Or can I just upload my .bmp back ground images directly to my Clie?

you could use an ms to put them on your ms in the "backgrounds folder of Zlauncher"

Not anything that I know of yet. http://festus440.happypalm.com is the website of the guy who makes the ML 4 Background convertor and is has a ZLauncher background convertor in the works. Looks like it will be out soon as there are screenshots as recent as 1/20/04 of the program.

Festus440 is currently working on a windows application which will convert your .bmp/.jpg/.gif images into a .pdb zlauncher background image.

I've been beta testing it for him.... and I must say ... it works like a dream. It is absolutely perfect from what I've seen. I've had no issues with creating ZLauncher background .pdb files using this program. I don't know of the release date for the program..... it will be coming out hopefully in the next 30 days.

Till then.... if you need a background converted, and are unable to do so yourself, you may email me the file(s) (preferably in .jpg format) at support@zlthemes.com and I'll convert it and send it back to you.

PictureGear 4.6 Lite which comes on the sj22 cd can convert images to a ZL compatable .pdb

PictureGear 4.6 must be different than 4.3. 4.3 produces a prc file that's in a different format than the ZL Backimage and ZL doesn't seem to like it.

I wrote ZL Background Converter mostly for people that don't have a memory card, but I also tried to make it really easy to use so that even people that have other ways to make background images might find it useful.

It also reads ZL Backimage pdb files which can be handy.

I released version 1.0.0 today at PalmGear. Just waiting for it to get approved.

The demo version is available on my web site if anyone wants to try it.
