View Full Version : I've Got It And I Luv It!
I just got back from BB and I love the NZ! Yeah, it's bigger but better. I laughed when I couldn't get it in my case but hey, it's worth it. The one thing that I don't like is where the stylus is positioned. I have already lost it! I guess when I tried to get it to fit in my old case and when I took it out the stylus came out. Besides that, it's the truth! BB will never display it because of theft. I asked a manager could I see it before I bought it and he said no. People actually have stolen the displays. Well I have to go now and play with my NZ!:D
Also you can take pictures in tablet mode! No one will ever have a clue. Yeah Yeah, stealth pictures! Also the Movie Playback is alot better!
PS Do anyone here knows what type of stylus I need to fit the NZ?
Whoa I just took a picture! The quality is amazing! The flash is going to blow you guys mind!
Oh yeah, to those who wanted to know how the camera lens is protected......... It has a shutter that opens and closes like a real camera!!!!!

No problem! I wish I could have checked my BB today, but the 20-25 inches of snow that is falling today kept me indoors.
Whoa, now that's deep! Jedix the camera has a setting for night. I just took a picture of my daughter in low light and it came out perfect! You will like the NZ, I can't wait till you get it.

Come on, Maji, tell us how you really feel:D
I'm glad you got yours. Isn't this the greatest "little" PDA ever? And the feel is so great. Seems to fit right in your hand.
The only nit I have so far (no, not the sync cover. That's liveable) are the function keys. Well, actually, the purple letters on the black background. Outside it's not problem. But try typing indoors with low light. Yes, it does look cool but white or silver would have made it easier on the eyes.
Like I said, nit piking. I love this thing.:D :D

Ok, my turn to nit pick! Why does the NZ tell you to "Please Wait" when you go to take a picture or movie? Is it just mine because it takes about 4 seconds longer than the NX to set up. Man, I can't believe the picture quality! You can actually see my nose hairs, gross but true! I love the way the screen sits back off the keyboard. Oh yeah, is the Movie Player quality better or worst. It seems to be a little more grainy. I wiped it out on my friend who owns a 5455, he almost fainted. You should have see his face! Anyway he's selling the 5455 at work so that he can get the NZ. It's bigger and it looks serious!
The flash is awesome! This may well be my last PDA! It has everything I want!

I went out today and got the nz. I was so nervous!! Must be excitement :D
I had only bought my nx three weeks ago (pitiful, I know), so CUSA let me keep my warranty. Between that and the free memory stick offer (rebate), I'm quite pleased with CUSA's service. And now, I'm going to sit in front of my pretty new toy and stare at it until it charges.....

mine just arrived via AIrborne Express. I love it, already beamed over my addresses and a few cool apps from my Palm 505. ANd no, it isn't a brick, otherwise I'd throw it at the damn armadillo that keeps digging up my yard. I had fears about the size of it, but it's actually quite nice now that I have it in hand.

Seriously, when performing the professional "close my eyes and weigh one in each hand" test, it's hard to tell the difference. Where it is clearly visible is the dimensional difference. But still, who cares!!!! It's so cool!!!!!!!!!!

Go to your profile, edit your options and select at the very bottom avatar. You can only have certain preset ones till you reach a certain level.

These are my observations about the NZ, which I just received today... I also posted these on the clie list so I apologize in advance to those who saw them already.
- Seems to weigh less than the NX70v
- Power connection is behind and under the camera. Interesting spot, but
perfect for craddle. Pretty much forget about synching while in a case as it
seems pretty hard to get to.
- comes with USB cables to synch with the small nub (an ac/usb adapter) or
with the craddle.
- Cool fast-access buttons on the edge of the screen so that the clie
doesn't have to be opened to get to the main apps.
- IR seems more powerful (at least with the remote app).
- stylus is on edge of screen and can only be put in one way. Takes looking
at it to put back (hate this). Correction... REALLY hate this.
- Thicker than nx70v, not as sleek.
- Video out!!
- Keyboard feels better.
- Pretty cool, but I kind of miss the NX70v because the NZ is much bulkier.
I kind of felt the NX was bulky as it was, but the NZ feels considerably
bulkier.
- Can't perceive a difference between the nx screen and the nz screen
- Color of the NZ case is awesome.
And later in the day...
I'm really liking it but the stylus location sucks!!!
I absolutely hate that it's located on the side of the display which means
that depending on how the display is rotated, it's never where you expect
it!!
It's also fallen three times already. Luckily within my office.
Terrible design for this...

Not Apple, just Steve Jobs, who has that "not invented while I was here, and it got made fun of" psychotic hatred of the Newton and anything that reminds him of it.

I totally agree about the purple func keys, cool color, but not very functional :0 The camera is impressive, low light, flash...It's fat, but phat. The shortcut keys on the bottom (tablet mode) are a great idea. The BT phone driver is killing me though, where do I get it????

Blueprints, I took about 25 pictures today with the flash and my batterry dropped some but not like people said it would! This thing looks awesome sitting in the cradle! I'm going to download the black status bar in Clie Files, should look hot!
Q. When you guys take a picture with the NZ, doe's it tell you to "Please Wait"? I just wanted to know if mine was defected or because of the increase in megapixels it takes a little longer. Ahhh, I still love it!

too bad, I still have my newton 130, and cursive and regular handwriting is still better than anything out. Too bad its SLOW by todays standards. Takes like 1-3seconds to change between apps. :)

Let me take that back. After about 18 flashes, the NZ tells you that your battery is too low for the flash.

18 consecutive or spread out? I took 33 over the space of an hour today without any problem.

Huh. let me try it again. Doe's it take about three to four seconds before you can use you camera? When I hit the camera icon, it saids please wait, then after about 4 seconds I can take a picture.
One more thing, doe's your Movie Player look a little more grainier than the NZ when you play back something you recorded? Mine does!

Mine take about 8-9 secs to boot up like others have reported. It also take 3-4 seconds to write the pic to the memstick. I was taking groups of 5-6 pics and then letting it sit for 10 mins while I prepped for the next "shoot". I also had just pulled it fresh off the charger. Your mileage may vary!!!
Honestly, I haven't even messed with the video yet. I've been busy making "albums" to bore my relatives with on their TV's... I'll have to make a couple of videos and compare with the NX recorded ones.

I took 20 pics with flash today and it is not even half way down on the battery. It does take a while to boot up, but I can take a picture about once every two sec.
My video does seem a bit grainy, but that may be because I am comparing it to the still pics at high res :D

How about the USB port? Is it really only for USB Printers aside from syncing? Have u tried using it with other USB devices? I hope I can use it with my USB CD-R/RW Drive or perhaps a PenDrive.

The USB out feature is currently only for Epson printers...per Sony. In the future, who knows!??!
maybe some people just have better luck with the battery. I took 30 consecutive w/flash once it finished charging and I was still able to take a few more later. I will def be practicing more as I have yet another snow day 2morrow. :)
Yeah the video that I shot with the NZ is grainier than the NX video. I thought that they had the same specs as far as the Movie Player.

Philgin, I think the USB port u are referring might not sync with other USB accessories. Simply because there is new chip set that was produced by Philip semiconductor call USB On-The-Go (OTG). This USB OTG suppose to ba able to link devices to devices without connecting to a PC/laptop via USB ports.
According to reports, this USB OTG suppose to be built on NZ90, but unfortunately it was being withdrawn. Seems like this function will be implemented on the next Clie. (that's my guess)

It comes with drivers for only 3 Epson printers. I have an Epson Photo 870, and tried the included Epson Photo 820 driver, and it told me my printer wasn't supported. I've heard rumors that more drivers are coming- hope so!

Marudine I thought abt the USB On-The-Go being able to link USB devices. If so we cud be able to hv Gigabytes of storage. Cos Portable Hard Drive's with USB would able to be linked up with the NZ's and storage wouldn't be a problem. The technology is here... but maybe SONY didn't incoperate it into the NZ cos by then memoysticks would be benchstock. Even with USB On-The-Go. I wonder if there would be enough power to drive the Hard Drive...
If you guys hv any new abt CF, SD, or any other memory compatible wit e NZ. Pls pls pls... share it here. thanx

blueprints, you're right in the sense. The main function of USB OTG is to enable connection between two devices. It will be useful if you want to print direct from PDA, d/l files from digicam, thumb drive connections and many others. I think this is a great technology worth waiting for. Imagine you can do so many function just to have an USB OTG on the PDA.
That's why I'm still holding back my thoughts of purchasing a nz (anyway is still not in S'pore).
