In the past few days I have been unable to Hotsync my T615C via my cradle Cable/USB connection on a Win2K PC. I have reinstalled the Palm Desktop software but still my PDA is not recognized when it is in the cradle. When I place the PDA in the cradle the orange light on it comes on and the green round light on the cradle becomes lit but I am wondering if there is a connectivity problem within the slot at the base of the PDA. Even the MS Import utility does not work and reads "Check connection with host." Any ideas here greatly welcome since I am working on a PDA application for my office and I'd like to minimize my downtime. Thanks.

try a soft reset, i had the same problem, all you have to do is unscrew the top of the stylus and push the pin into the hole marked "reset"

Tell me if it works

Yes, that was the first thing I tried (twice) to no avail.

Is "Local USB" checked on the HotSync setup?

As far as MSImport not connecting, it sounds like you have corrupted MS driver. When you read "Check connection with host" did you check the Device Manager USB controller to see if "Sony PEG Mass Storage" is listed? You may need to reinstall the MSExport.

I hard re-booted it again and this time it took. Yeah!

I have tried both hard and soft resets to no avail with exactly the same circumstances (orange and green lights on). Hitting the sync button doesn't do anything. Attempting to start a HotSync via the Hotsync application does start it trying to sync, but the Win2K system doesn't acknowlege a sync starting. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop and pocket mirror to no avail.

I have a temporary (but slow workaround) which is that I can switch to an IR to a PC/Handheld sync, and I can sync to my Win2K laptop.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling my USB drivers for the Thinkpad to which I'm trying to Hotsync.

Do cradles every T615-C cradles ever just die?

What other tests might I try? I don't relish doing a hard reset again, as it takes a long time to sync over the IR port once I got everything going.

I had a similar problem. Unable to hotsynch via cradle or cable, but was okay via IR. I did all the rebooting, reloading and resetting recommended by Sony but with no luck. One telling symptom was the fact that my MS Import was working thru the cradle.

I called tech support and it was concluded that my problem was with the hardware. I had to send it in for repair and have since gotten back. It is BTW now synching fine.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

May be the problem come from you credle, please use another cradle to hotsync. For what I know is SJ series hotsync adaptor same with T615, you can use that adaptor to confirm.

Do you use a USB Hub? If so, try moving your cradle cable plug to a different port on the hub. If you don't have a hub, try switching the cable to a different usb port on your computer.

Sometimes the connections/conduits simply fail. What I have found to be best is the following procedure. Whenever a Hotsynch fails, I follow it. Whatever problem my system/handheld has, the procedure has yet to fail in producing a solution.

Step 1-perform a soft reset on your handheld
Step 2-while the soft reset is taking place, find your Hotsynch tray icon in your system tray. Right Click on it, and select exit. It will dissappear.
Step 3-Find your Hotsynch Manager icon in your systems software-click on it so it reappears in your system tray

This procedure seems to reset the conduits, and restores the Hotsynch procedure every time.

[I'm the guy who posted with the "failing cradle"]

I think that SWC may be right, the cradle is just failing. One other clue to this is that when I hit the hotsync button on the cradle without the power on, the power doesn't come on at all. I think that the switch for the button isn't working as well as some of the other circuitry.

There is no USB hub involved (though I'd like to have one eventually) and I know that the conduits are working because when I sync using IR it works (albeit slowly).

Looks like I'll try to talk Sony into a repair...

Any recommendations on alternative charger/Sync cables for the 615?

if your updated info is on your desktop and you want to sync with your pDA, it might be a problem of user name, clear it on the PDA and then once you hotsync, it will ask for the user, take it from their, come back to see if it works.
