Just what is that extra space for?

In the upper right corner of the screen (Original Clie Launcher) there is the space with the "Hard Buttons" for Beam / Information / <SPACE> / Delete.

 

Is it possible to assign a program to that empty space?

nothing that is documented. I believe that might be something for wifi, but unsure since I don't have one

Doesn't do anything with wireless connected.

I read on the Sony site that those items could be assigned by programming... certainly the one blank left...
