I'm planning to give my NR70V to my husband, and upgrade to the NX70V. I've just had a look at the Palm OS5, and it looked more complicated and less intuitive. Any comments on that, or any other comparison between the two Clies? Thanks!

By the end of day one you will love OS 5 and wonder how you lived without it. It is faster and the applications are better, the keyboard is out of the way for more screen space in all the applications.
I got a new NZ90 last night and looked at OS 5 and went aaah what od I do with this? After one day on the road I love it and am glad for the upgrade-go for it!!

Yes OS5 is much better. And the new ARM CPU is quick. I have the NX70V and love it. Their are some problems with old software but not enough to say no to OS5. The graphics and speed alone or worth it.

I upgraded from an SJ30 to the NX70. Back in Nov, there weren't as many programs that were OS5 compatible. Everything I use now is OS5 compatible, but there are still some that won't be updated. Look up the programs that you currently use on Handango, Palmgear, or the developer's site, and make sure they're updated to OS5 or find a suitable substitute.
Also, take into consideration any accessories you have for the NR that may not work on your NX (external keyboard, case, etc.)
The user interface is the same. Don't be mislead by looking at Sony's OS5 launcher. You can switch it to the classic Palm OS launcher. Or you can use a familiar 3rd party launcher.
The speed is great. Reading from the MemStick on the NX seems even faster than accessing from RAM on my SJ30. All in all, I don't think you'll be dissappointed. Your husband may be envious though. :-)

Also we have been communicating with a few of the programmers who made programs for OS4 and they are remaking most code now to be OS5 compatible. What makes a compatible progam is usually full screen (keyboard folds down).
I own an NR70 and my best firend an NX70-the later is much better and I got a NZ90 yesterday-great!! Go for it!!

You can't beat the speed! Icons look a whole lot nicer too! I moved up from the NR to the NX. At first I was a bit apprehensive, but that soon disappeared. One bit of advice to save yourself some grief, do NOT HotSync the NX directly to the NX, doing so will cause problems. Move your apps and files over manually. The main reason is the differences in the operating systems and graphics.

Also make sure you remove all of your Clie NR70 files before you sync the NX70-do a new install of everything. Otherwise you will muck things up and tranfer OS4 apps to OS5 and they do not look pretty.
Do a Windows uninstall from Control Panel and then-IMPORTANT-go to Progam Fils and erase the SonyPDA directory.

I had upgraded from an N710 to the NX. Can't say there's much difference visually from OS5 to OS4, aside from the pure speed. You will notice some of your old appz will need to be upgraded or won't work properly. That's about it.
Instead of deleting your Palm directory, make a copy to your desktop. Hotsync your new device and then manually copy select files over.
