Shouldn't all PDA's (either Clie or not) have a universal card reader?

I believe it would be great, everybody could use their favorite card format, and users with a Sony MS could share files with Palmone users or any other PDA's or viceversa.

What do you think??

Wouldn't it take up a lot of space?

I've seen universal card readers that were less that a 1/4 inch think.

I don't think they would use so much space, I would love to share files and other multimedia apps with other PDA users.

Or maybe it would be a better idea to standarize all the memory cards, and make all the companies use the same format for all their devices.

And we would then have world peace and unity among all!!!

It would be easier to have world peace than to have all the companies use the same format.

Sony would never do that. They have thier own format to sell- Memory Sticks they dont want the competition to be blown away because people would use CF or SD

Could an external card reader for PDA's work? (like the ones for PC)

I'm guessing that a driver would have to be written for it by someone (official or otherwise), but it should work. In the same thinking, you should be able to hook up a hard drive to a pda (via usb - maybe?) if someone wrote a driver.

Someone get to work on rigging a microdrive to work on a clie over usb... that would be a golden age of palming.
