Open Letter To Yi Bing

Dear Mr. Bing,
I am posting this letter here hoping you will see it and respond. I have tried to email you at three different addresses and have never received a reply. Basically, I have purchased YiShow Explorer three times now and have never heard from you.

The first time was from Palmgear. When you did not send me the reg code or any information they told me to write to you direct. I did and never received an answer. They refunded my money.

Then I bought the software from Handango. Still no response from you although the sale went through. Again I wrote to you a few times and never received a response. Handango, more I think through incompetence then greed, wound up keeping my money.

More than a week ago I decided that Iad to try again because I really like YiShow Explorer. This time I bought it, again, from Palmgear. And, again, no word from you after reasonable time. No response to a separate email. This time Palmgear has emailed me a version that works beyond demo mode. However, my understanding from reading ClieSource is that upgrades are made available on your site to registered owners. Because I have no such access from you I guess I will not be able to upgrade.

My purpose in posting this is that I hope someone reading knows you and will forward it to you. I am not flaming at you nor trying to embarass you. But I am out of options here as, strange as it seems, I just cannot seem to BUY your software. Although I can pay for it! I hope you can help.

um, all I had to do was go to the help on palmgear, or maybe it was in the reg letter from palm gear, but if you send a bhlank e-mail from the address you used to purchase the program, to something like history@palmgear.com with the subject header being your order number, it'll give you a code and you can go to http://www.palmgear.com/download, enter your password and download the newest version...

I think that if you paid for it and couldn't get a code then it wouldn't be unethical to crack it or something right!?

I had the same problem with PalmGear and SpellCheck. After a week of no response, I threatened them with action from my bankcard company. Within eight hours I received the unlock codes from PalmGear, the developer NEVER responded...

I had the same problem with him also. I did it two times. I was advised by PalmGear to contact him. He never replied. PalmGear refused to refund my money so I called every day for a week to harass them about it. They finally refunded me. It is very confusing on their site as to which one to order.

If you have this problem, explain that you will dispute the charges with your bankcard company. In addition to the refund, PalmGear will experience a service charge from the bankcard company. In my case, this was $35. This should be all the leverage you need.

I should note, I pay for the software I use. I DO NOT support warez, nor do I support vendors that DO NOT provide the software one pays for.

hmm if you bought from handango you should be able to d/l right afterward from handango (registered version) as there's no reg code or whatever needed for yishow. And if you keep the email letter handango sent you, you can always receive the most updated version from handango again (from that email).

Find where it says:
Your Purchase:
To download your software again or to access your invoice use your order number and your email address at http://www.handango.com/MyLogin.jsp?siteId=1

Or go directly there with the following URL:
xxx click here xxxx

then you can click Download and you will get the most updated version of yishow (most current version as from his web site)

This is the only way to get newest yishow, not from his website (dunno where you heard about it)

Outie -- as it happens from Handango I received a wrong version as well. It was mislabeled on their site for a few days I guess. So although, yes, I can still download it, it's the wrong guy! Insult to injury....

NeverDeath -- I dunno but what I have from Palmgear says that Yi Bing must email me the version. What I get if I redownload is still the demo version.

Jrockway -- Nah, even if I could see using a cracked version (and I do not support wares) I would still rather get what I paid for via the regular route(s).

I personally feel that if Mr. Bing is not responding to a reasonable percentage of customers that the for-sale sites should stop carrying his products. I figured this was an isolated incident tho.

I used YiShow back in November with mx NX and liked it. I purchased the registered version from PalmGear. Then a new release was made available and I was unable to download the new copy. Several emails to PalmGear told me to contact the developer (Yi Bing). Of course, he NEVER responded...

I eventually considered it water under the bridge and eliminated YiShow from my life due to the poor service. I now use ZLauncher and have been very pleased with its performance and the service I receive from the developer.

I will stick with ZLauncher, Facer and of course ol' trusty SilverScreen!

YiShow is very nice but is quirky with OS5, hardly any skins for it and the tech support is NULL.

ZLauncher is definately worth the purchase, and its cheaper than most. I personally have ZLauncher and love it. YiShow has been around for a while.
You see YiShow perfromed very well on the older NR series Clies and when the NX's came out I think the developer was so flodded with problems that he took the money and bailed!

Most all of the YiShow backgrounds WILL work with Zlauncher. Simply copy them to your memory stick to the \Palm\Programs\Zlauncher\Backimage directory and then use the theme manager to select the active background you want.

I'm a Palm app developer. I know nothing about the product mentioned here, but I do get complaints about not sending a registration code. Sometimes people just don't read. If you purchase any of my products from Handango or Palmgear, you can download the non-demo version at time of purchase.

None of my products use a reg code -- you either have the full version or you don't.

I also *always* answer my mail -- but occasionally I get people who provide a non-working email address. What do you do when someone wants a reg code but you everytime you email them the email bounces?

I'm not saying that anyone here did that, but I've had Palmgear make refunds because purchasors couldn't get a reg code from me. I either didn't get email from them, or I couldn't send email back. It's a frustrating situation for both parties.

I had the same problem 5 email and no responce. Then out of the blue I recieved an email saying yishow did'nt support OS5. Does he even know his own products. 5.25 works great. I was an avid yishow user and then I discovered Z launcher. Make the switch, its well worth it. Yishow who????????????????????????????????

3 emails here to Bing. He responded and asked me to send the email with the recipt. After I sent it, no response. He took 20 bucks from me but won't get another penny (I'll write it myself before giving him a dime).

Try ZLauncher in place of YiShow!

ZLauncher has a bit steeper learning curve but it works great with my YiShow backgrounds. ZZTechs took a couple of days to get me the reg. code, but this is excusable due to it being Chinese New Year and they closed down for the week.

I just logged back into PalmGear to see if they have ever changed my downloadable version and it still remains the WRONG version. Since I am not using YiShow (and yet paid for it) I'll give my download info to ONE person and they can benefit(?) from my having purchased it. Email me at rich@leggnet.com.

I've bought LauncherX, ZLauncher, and YiShow. I like ZLauncher the best so far, but the one reason I keep using YiShow is the ability to specify how many icons (and in what matrix) I can put on a page, leaving room for the eye candy background on the side. It's purely cosmetic, but I like showing off the NX because of this. If ZLauncher were to incorporate this one feature, I'd dump YiShow altogether.

As a side note, when I purchased YiShow several days ago from Palmgear, the registered version download link appeared on the final page of the order confirmation, and it's under the "Review your downloads" link on My Palmgear. I didn't get a reg code; I got a link to a non-demo version.

What skins work with the NX for ZLauncher. I tried CopperdeckII but could not get it to work. I don't mind buying an app that works, but I don't like buying one that the developer doesn't respond to. Like LX, Yishow etc.

Now that YiShow has a Clie OS5 version, but we were all instructed to buy the Non Clie version originally, how do we get the updated and correct version????? Palm Gear is a Pain in the A$$

(Don't take this the wrong way...I do like ZL. But YiShow works better for my PDA use.)

I've had very good luck in my communications with YiBing. 4-5 days was the max wait for a reply, and my last email came on 5/24 regarding a couple bugs in Explorer v5.5 for Clié.

As for not getting a "reg code" for YiShowExplorer...you won't, it's not registerable software. The demo and full versions are separate.
If ordering from Palmgear, you will get a link to DL the full version and your user account will contain history for you to go back and re-DL it (or more recent versions).


I don't have an OS5 CLié, but I can understand you guys who have to deal with the "use the for Palm version instead of the for Clié version" problem being upset with YiShow.
After switching from Handspring to Clié and not-so-reluctantly ditching SilverScreen, I bought YiShow. And until I can't use it any longer or get free upgrades I'll use it. After that...I'll decide what will work best for me (probly ZL if they keep up the improvements.).

Just chill guys, my version upgraded fine. and I make skins for YiShow and everytime I post one on this site I also send one to Yi Bing and he always returns my mail to thank thankyou and to let me know it's been posted on his site, I also mailed him last week about making skins for os5 version and he mailed back within 24 hours.
So give him a break, he may be busy with other stuff, we don't all spend our time on a pc 24/7.

Seriously, though... sorry about your problems. I myself feel stupid for having bought Launcher X. Thank goodness I found ZLauncher! :)
